I woke up this morning feeling refreshed and energised and much more my normal self after two days of awful ToM with terrible mood swings and uncontrollable urges to munch and munch.
Thankfully I got in more than 10,000 steps and some serious housework yesterday (we went over to make a start on cleaning and airing the summer house) so there's actually a small drop on the scales this morning, to 56.8 kg.
That's still higher than I want to be but I've definitely been over-eating since Thursday. Evening snacks and munchies, once started I don't stop. I can't seem to choose between one thing or the other so I have them all! Crisps, chocolate, beer, ice-cream... Last night wasn't so bad but Friday evening! I couldn't sleep, had to take Rennie!
Still, it's over for another month. Today's a beautiful day and I'll be off to the summer house again when I've finished breakfast. I've made a sandwich to take with me for lunch and planning an omelette with a guacamole type salad for dinner.

PMT & the munchies - it's a bit of a setback but no less than I deserve.

The snacking is becoming a huge habit again and not surprisingly there's a gain on the scale although I do have PMT which will account for part of the gain and for part of the urge to snack! Also two days off and doing some baking didn't help.
I've done this before though, in fact, it's a fairly familiar pattern - thinking I'm home and dry, thinking it;s all under control and consequently letting go of the mental reins.
Fast day today, so an opportunity to regain control. Wish me luck and self-control :)

I walked to school and back yesterday, which partly made up for the over indulgence in snacks, I hope! I found a pedometer app for my phone that actually works and the school walk in one direction is 5555 steps - a lovely number, isn't it?
I'm off work today so once hubby and daughter are out of the house I'm planning a quiet day to include a long, brisk walk in the chilly sunshine.

Yesterday wasn't a great success as I went to 750 cal instead of 500. I was so cold in the evening and felt really hungry - not quite as bad as the alternative where during the day I'd been on the verge of ordering a toasted cheese sandwich from the school canteen! I don't even like their toasties - bland white bread and bland cheese that's usually barely melted. Thank goodness I didn't!
Optimum nutrition is always on my mind so I waited until I got home and had a poached egg on a small slice of unbuttered wholewheat toast with a helping of "kisir" - a Turkish sald made with wholegrain bulgur and lots of salad veg chopped and mixed in.
I still didn't warm up so I went to bed extra early (9.30) with a hot water bottle and a good book!
Currently reading "Thinking, fast and slow" - picked up at the last minute from the airport in England because it sounded interesting and was being prominently promoted! It's fascinating - all about our thought processes and how so much of what results in action actually happens subconsciously even though we think we're in control.
I have a partial day off today and a full day off tomorrow (to recover from today!). It's Children's Day here, 23 April, so primary children all over the country will be taking part in shows and parades. As a teacher, I have to attend the show at our school, even though today is an official public holiday! That's why we get the day off tomorrow, although the extra day was hard fought for and may be rescinded any time - it was touch and go whether we'd get it this year. I plan to enjoy it!
