I don't know what is harder - being the person going through something difficult, or being the loved one on the outside, standing there helpless to do anything. Its so hard, I totally understand where you are coming from. Its like compairing apples to oranges, but when Evan comes home so defeated from his job because they treat him like dirt, I want to DO something to help, but theres nothing I can do, all I can do is be there for him. One thing that helped both of us, is I wrote him a letter telling him that whatever he wanted to do, I would be there to support him 100% - that may be a good idea for you to do with Bob? It just lets him know that you truely are there for him no matter what, which we all know you are. Anyway.... I like your #4 - I LOVE pita and hummus! I usually mix in some carrots and celery to keep the carbs down too - so yummy! Have a great day buddy!!!!

Congrats on the great wellness exam report! I'm proud of you. It's great to see how far you've come since 2006!!!

Maybe you should have a half-way celebration on Friday! Complete with balloons and confetti. :) So happy to hear your blood work is boring. I'm turning 50 this year and plan on getting a complete physical and whatever other new tests go along with that age. I'll hope for boring results, too. :)

I bet the blood work is the only boring thing about you! I can empathise with the feeling of helplessness and wanting to do something, but being 'there' is the best thing you can do and I'm sure Bob knows and appreciates it. Keep your chin up.

Oh, and about your blood work - did you take a copy of it for yourself? I didn't when I got mine done a month or two ago, but really should have - just to keep it on record.

Actually I did get a copy of my bloodwork!! My doc thought maybe I could sell the results on the black market!! Tee hee!! Amy, I like the "half-way" celebration idea ... I'll have to ponder that idea and see what I can come up with!! and Flax ... you keep your chin up too, okay???!!

Great great work on the blood test results and that HUGE loss since 2006! I think Bob is very lucky to have such a thoughtful partner helping him through this and I'm willing to bet he thinks so too. I totally vote for the halfway celebration. :)

Love the idea of a half-way celebration. Even a special meal home or out. I can relate to that feeling of helplessness. As others have said, I'm sure your husband really appreciates that you are there in full force. But taking care of and just being with someone who is sick, someone we care about so deeply, is really really hard. I know how much you want to be strong and 100% there but you also need to make sure you're taking care of yourself. Is the tooth bothering you? In my root canal experience (I've had four now--but I could be totally wrong here) you usually cannot wait that long to get them because of the unbearable pain. Are you sure you need it?

-- I just hope you're getting this advice from an endodontist or oral surgeon and not a regular dentist who does root canals on the side for extra cash when things get tight. :)

Also (last one I promise), the longer you put off dental care the more expensive it gets! Root canals and crowns are expensive but they pale in comparison with bridges and implants, which are usually also considered "cosmetic" and totally not covered even if you do have dental insurance. This coming from someone who has procrastinated (hoping the problem would magically go away) her way into thousands of dollars of otherwise unnecessary dental care.

What great test results, BORING, but great! My doctor was enthusiastic about my weight loss lol it made me laugh, he had just met me and was ecstatic about 20 pounds. Gosh, I am sorry about the rough days w/ your hubby. I think you should approach it w/ humor and 'party' the half way point, and maybe the count down. Remind him he isn't as sick as other patients and he can't live in fear of it. I think there are support websites like this for cancer patients where maybe he can blog, find hope :) Im always thinking of you MOOSE!

Regarding root canals ... my dentist has done a root canal for me before and he is very good at them but he had shoulder surgery recently and can no longer do them. He referred me to a apecialist but they do not accept my insurance and therefore want 50% of the cost up front which I do not have right now. I do think I need one and I will get it done. I am not in excruciating pain ... just a nagging ache at the top of the tooth at the gum line and yes ... I am fairly certain one is indicated. I have been told there is a very good dentist in town who also does root canals and takes my insurance but I've just been too busy to call. I know. I know. I need to make the time ... Thank you for reminding me that I need to take care of myself. Absolutely. Just a bit of a challenge!! LOL!!

Sorry for ranting and raving about the root canal. I had to laugh last night when Obama mentioned root canals because they have been so much on my brain and FS. Can you call and ask for a different referral? So many times I have been afraid to call doctors, afraid to bother them, afraid they will tell me they won't take a payment plan. But the worst they will do is say no. I have put off dental care because of $. I have lost teeth. :( This is why I am so hyper about it. Someone should take insurance and also a payment plan. Good luck. XOXO.

Beets you can rant and rave to your heart's delight!!! I do have the name of a dentist to call who comes highly recommended I just have been too blinking busy during the day to make the call. Fortunately I'm not currently in pain ... the trick is to take care of it before I am!!! LOL!! It is all in the timing!!

I'm now feeling pain all over my mouth and can only imagine how screwed I will be if I need any more major dental care in the next two years! (That's about how long it's going to take me to pay for this work.) Hope you get to it before the pain kicks in. Have a good night.
