Trying to keep a positive attitude - I thought I made good choices this week, but perhaps I didn't do as good as I thought. I did pass up a lot of junk food around the office this week so that's a positive.

Are legumes and barley as healthy as I thought?

Yes, they are healthy, but everything has calories. If you are within your caloric range, it a gain could be something simple like too much sodium. Google "why the scale lies", it gives good insight into why we can do everything right and still show a gain sometimes.

just keep at it doug! It is rough sometimes and as discouraging as it can be, nothing felt better to me than the fact that yesterday, I HAD to wear a belt with my jeans, they kept falling down. I was stuck at the 180 mark forever, but my clothes were fitting differently. Keep at it man

Thanks both for the encouragement. I read something about how your body likes to use the alcohol it meabolizes first for energy. Since I had a few too many glasses of wine this past week, I'll bet that contributed to the gain.
