I'm happily surprised by this two pound drop! I haven't changed what I'm doing, really. Still eating low carb, lots of fresh veggies, around 12,000 calories a day and being active several times a week. I played soccer on Friday, then had a mostly restful day yesterday (just walking the very slow dog). I'll play soccer again tonight.

We had some extremely sad news yesterday that one of the graduate students in our program, who is also a religious leader and is beloved by all, died suddenly of a heart attack on Friday night. I was very sad yesterday, still feel grief for his loss. And the other graduate students in our program are struggling a lot. He was one of those people who was always smiling, loved everyone, and just made people around him happy. And he was young (43) and seemed healthy, which adds to the shock. There's a gathering in his honor tonight that I hope to attend.

All of this reminds me to appreciate the love and wonderful things in my life each day, to show compassion and love for those around me, and not take things for granted. I plan to spend today with my girls, being as fully present as I can.
