I had been overweight most of my life (except for a sting at age 13-16) and am 5ft 2in. Both my parents had diabetes, both got their legs amputated; AND both died of complications stemming from poor management of their health. My siblings and many of my extended family battle with weight issues as well.
In 2010, topping @ a whopping 332 lbs and walking with a cane due to arthritis in both knees, I decided to undergo a Sleeve gastrectomy. I did great at the beginning but then I began to slow down. Many people congratulate me on my success and think I've done great. And although that is true...it has been and continues to be an UP HILL BATTLE. I still struggle with overloading on sweets sometimes to the point of throwing up – It makes no sense to me! (...and possibly to some of you too.)
It certainly hasn't been easy, luckily, I'm resilient (or hardhead) and REFUSE to go back to up to that weight again. I am back on track and am committed to get back on the horse every time I fall off.
I want to live a full life, full of great possibilities and opportunities; to enhance my life so: I… “may have life, and may have it more abundantly”… and live to the fullest in the time that God intends for me to be on this Earth and in eternity. (I know I may have lost some you with this statement. I mean no disrespect but; oh, well!) In the famous words of John Lydgate: “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.”
I am committed to helping others along the way, as best as I can (so we can enjoy old age together) (:D). So I encourage you all "To keep on Trucking" (some of you know what that means). Don't stop…Don't wallow in discouragement…Any weight loss (and/or maintenance) brings you closer to a healthier you.
