I am 44 years old, single, working in corporate finance, living in SE Wisconsin, USA. I have a 24 year old daughter, who just moved back home from St Louis after completing her Master's degree, and is now attending law school in Milwaukee.I have struggled with my weight for the past 10 years, since having my 3rd knee surgery and closing my restaurant. My activity level has plummeted since then, and I just ate whatever I wanted. In the past year, some health markers have begun to rise, along with my weight, at an alarming rate. I went on Weight Watchers, and lost 11 pounds. Then nothing. For the next 3 months. Then it all came back.

I discussed this in depth with my doctor, and we ran more tests. My insulin levels have skyrocketed, and has created a lot of concern. My doctor has recommended a LCHF lifestyle change, with The New Atkins for a New You as a model to follow. My love affair with bread, potatoes, ice cream, and port wine has ended. Harshly. I am committed to finding the right balance of foods to lower my insulin levels, otherwise my doctor will put me on Metformin, a diabetic medication. That to me is the last resort. I have to do this with diet. I want to feel healthy, be active, and get back to being MYSELF. I will do this.
