Day 14

Weight 201.6 (down from 204.2 yesterday!!)

So ... the feast day "gain" is going away!!! YAY!!!! I exercised GREAT self control last night, avoiding snacking after dinner and instead had a cup of orange spice tea. Even with my unplanned for beer (a birthday celebration for a colleague and I only had one and did not eat the garlic cheese fries or the fried zucchini!!!) the scale has been kind to me this morning.

I really, really, really, really, really, really want to weigh no more than 199.8 on Saturday morning. We'll see!!

Yesterday was a decent work day. Saw a couple of families, had a couple of cancellations (it is that time of the year, sick kids and we don't do home visits when kids are sick), some paperwork completed, requested to attend a training in February on Attachment and Emotion Regulation (we'll see if it gets approved). A good day.

Today is our weekly staff meeting day ... and I think I have just one appointment today. So, perhaps more paperwork to catch up on!! I like to be caught up this time of the year ... start things off fresh in the new year.

Today is Chattycathy's birthday!!! Happy Birthday Cathy!!! She's not getting older ... she is definitely getting better!!!

It is also a very dear friend's birthday who is not here on fatsecret and Pearl Harbor Day (for those of you in the States). Tomorrow is my brother's birthday, this coming Monday is my mother's birthday ... lots going on.

I think mom and I are going to go Christmas Stocking shopping on Friday after work. She is spending the next week at her friend's house in Coeur d' Alene and she has a few things she wants to get done before then. Should be fun ... mom and I always have a great time together.

I do like my new scale. My body fat percentage is much too high. The first day I used it the number was 38.7. Subsequently my readings have been 41.9, 41.3 and today, 41.6%. It should be no higher than 33.9% for my age. It is interesting to track and see what happens as I lose. I suppose by exercising I should be building muscle right? And thereby lowering my fat %? Is that how it works? How exactly do I get that number to go down?

I've been faithful with my elliptical lately. Now I need to get my Pilates DVD back into my routine!!! I have a love/hate relationship with Pilates. I always feel like a dork when I am doing the DVD ... and yet I love how it makes me feel!!! And, in reality, the longer and more regularly I do the DVD the less like a dork I feel. It doesn't burn a bunch of calories but it does make me stronger. Not going to do it this morning ... but soon ... very soon ... like this weekend?!? Yes ... by December 12th I will have started my Pilates.

So let's see if I can come up with some things to be grateful for today ...

... I am grateful I DID NOT lose control of my car on the ice yesterday on my way to work!!!

... I am grateful that I have slept better the last couple of nights (though I am still waking up from hot flashes!!!)

... I am grateful for birthdays ... an opportunity to appreciate how much I care for someone and celebrate them!!

... I am grateful for the hope that someday ... my husband and I will find what we have lost.

... I am grateful for food!!! For feeling hunger and satiated. For the way my body uses fuel. For the smells and tastes of food.

Coffee is about to percolate ... elliptical machine is sweetly whispering my name (doesn't want to wake anyone else in the house up) ... and it really is time for me to go!!! Today I will be kind to myself, I will embrace myself and take good care of myself. I will eat well and move my body. I will ponder those things I want ... letting myself at the same time appreciate what I have. Today something wonderful will happen to me!!!

Good Morning Carol and thank you for the birthday wishes and the mention in your journal. You sound very good this morning and it sure looks like things are progressing in the right direction for you. I went on the website and checked out that scale. I am waiting until we get to Florida to purchase anything that has to be moved. Have fun stocking shopping. I just may do that myself this week. Maybe in Tampa since it will be just little things and nice for the kids. Now to think of idea's lol. I hope you have a great day!!

Nothing like a little holiday shopping with someone you love. I am so excited that we are heading toward your 199.8 goal. I am quite giddy. Oh and feel same about Pilates-it has really changed the way I feel about my body. I think it helped me become more aware of it's strength and endurance and helped me mentally prepare for losing weight.

I saw your reply yesterday about avoiding snacks and taking ONE beer, I was going to say "dang" your weigh in today I was saying it outloud! DANG!! Thats wonderful. I like your plans for Christmas, it should be as simple as that. Our family started making gifts for one another (drawing a name) and now that is 'blown' up. And I am not crafty, lol. I am starting to think you have a thing with numbers. It will be fun to watch them though, you are right. Yes thats how it works. I am thin by weight number but I can still carry a lot of fat, I have the numbers somewhere. I didn't want to see them everywhere but I want to get them checked again. I did that at 118, I think. I too am grateful you did not lose control of your car, and are here gracing us w/ your kindness :)

WHOOP for the big drop. Keep up the good work. You will see the 190s before you know. You and I can celebrate those milestones together. My goal is to finally get back into the 170s before Christmas. I too feel like a dork doing yoga or pilates, but it is nice. We have been doing bootcamp and last week the instructors really put us through some muscle using workouts Mon-Wed. Thursday Coby walked us through just 30 minutes of deep stretching, military pilates he called them. It felt so good afterwards, even though I have no flexibilty and never had so hard for me to get deep into some of the forms we did :) This week it was back to lots of leg and ab workouts with cardio. Which is so what I am needing. I am actually seeing a defined line in my abs area. Stomach still jello but getting there. 2 c-sections and lack of strenghtening muslces since 2009 does that :)

Oh yes ... exercise is very good. I'm loving being back on my elliptical. I took a break for a while ... and soon I'll pop in my Pilates DVD and get that going again. JC ... you are doing great too ... we'll just keep on keepin' on ... and keep it OFF this time!!

Hi Mad! You sound great today and I am going to be dancing with you when you get to the 190's. I know you were happy to see that drop in weight. You are going to get there very soon. I just know it! I am so proud of you for getting that exercise in. Keep going... I am pulling for you. ;)
