February 15th, 2014, Star Date: -308875.26620370365 Well, things didn't exactly go as planned last night. Nix on dinner at the Flat Top Grill. First off, we had another snow storm and DW didn't want to drive to the restaurant. Second, DGD's chin was all swollen and DW had to go get her and take her to the ER, where they lanced it, squeezed it till she kicked and screamed (she's like 23 years old), loaded her up with antibiotics and pain killers, and sent her on her way. DW took her to our house where one of DGD's friends came and picked her up around 6. So, we decided to go to the local Oriental Buffet; it's her favorite, mine not so much, but I figured she would enjoy it. I like the food, I just never can figure out how to calculate my calories, because I have no idea what's in half of it. I just decided to stick with the proteins and green veggies, and skip the things like rice and deserts. I did succumb to 5 potato wedges and an egg tart though. I feel I did well, considering it was a buffet. I did not gorge myself like I did at Golden Corral. Still, buffets are not my friend.
Since everything seemed to be going south on me, I decided to give the necklace to DW before going to the buffet. There are a lot of things you can say about a buffet, but that they have a romantic ambience isn't one of them. She actually was rather excited about the necklace, loved the way the floating diamond jiggled, and kept telling me how I shouldn't have, but wanted it on right away. So, I think that part of it went well.
Since I had an appointment to get a haircut this morning, and DW had to cancel her appt. with the same person because of something going on with the kids, I gave up my appointment for her, and she took me to breakfast afterwards. Again, after last night, I didn't want to overindulge, but this little Greek family restaurant in town serves these amazing skillet breakfasts all day long. First, I'm thinking sausage, then bacon, then ham. Then, I thought, "why shoot yourself in the foot, make a compromise." Vegetarian, it is. Not really all that much of a compromise though when you consider 3 eggs, hashbrowns, mushrooms, onions, green peppers and what all else they put in those things. It was good, and I can say I felt better about leaving 1/3 of it behind, and not in the bathroom. I actually didn't eat 1/3 of it, very unusual for me.
BTW, after leaving the barber shop/hair salon, we noticed that the movie "Lone Survivor" is playing at the local theater. We are going to go see that after church tomorrow. I've wanted to see it since it came out. I've read about how the military men held the producers of it accountable for not exaggerating, and getting it right.
BTW, I did get up at 7:00 this morning and get in part of Jillian's workout (because part of it got my heartrate up to about 175 and I had enough) and 30 minutes on the treadmill for a little over 1 1/2 miles at 3.5 mph. That kept my heart pumping at about 150 BPM for the rest of the workout, and I'm still on track.
Well, that's all for now. Hope everyone has recovered from yesterday's love fest, and has a wonderful weekend. Toodles!
