Just got weighed and I was so surpised to see I had lost the pound that I gained last week. A few days ago I had a three course meal at my sister's birthday party, impossible to count the calories but know that it would have been double my RDI. But I have been doing extra exercises and walks in readiness for the big meal which I savoured every mouthful.

I have got two weeks before I am off on holiday to Ireland and Wales,I am hoping I can lose another pound or two before then.

Congratulations! It's amazing what losing a single pound of fat can do for your health.

Well done. I think you would be pleasantly surprised if you could accurately work out how much over your RDI the meal took you. I have done that on the recent occasions I have been for a meal out and my calculations didn't put things as bad as I thought. Meals out tend to be smaller portions than you would eat at home. It is all the trimmings and the overall layout which makes you think you are getting a lot more.

Well done on countering the splurge with exercise. It's obviously paid off. I'd go with Jocko on the meal out. Once I put in my estimates from when I was in Belfast, it wasn't as horrendous as I thought it might be. Not to be done on a daily basis, to be sure, but in the grand scheme of things it wasn't too bad. Best of luck over the next couple of weeks

LOL! Jocko, I can tell you don't live in the States! Most "eating out" establishments here have double, if not triple the portions we would normally eat at home

Love the image and it's important to visualize it that way because a one pound loss spread over my 5'8" frame doesn't make a visible impact. But on it we build, we build.

Not as bad in the UK as it is in France. France, if you are going out to dinner, you eat before you leave for the restaurant!

Thankyou for all the feedback.. debrafrederick, I live in England so like Jocko mentioned I do not think our portion sizes eating out will be as big as in USA.. Just got a phone call from family member inviting me out to a bbq on saturday,they have it every year at this time and from past experience there will be a lot of tasty food , we are usually there for about 5-6 hours ,so I think I need to do more extra exercises and walks to help compensate for extra calories which I know I will consume.

When I visited Scotland I did not notice the restaurant meal portions being particularly different than what you find in the U.S. in better restaurants. In some towns these were the only restaurants, so they were not upscale establishments. We ate "out" for a whole week and various towns, larger and smaller. Though there must have been some in Edinburgh, I did not see any fast food places. And if you needed to get a sandwich in a convenience store these were brought in fresh DAILY, were delicious-looking and on high quality bread, unlike the scary stuff you see in a convenience store here. Interestingly, an egg salad sandwich was made with sliced hard-boiled eggs.

I am so proud of your progress. I have been away from the site and just checked in today and saw how close you are to reaching your goal weight. You go girl and keep up the great work. Every pound lost is a step towards a new you.
