I have just graduated from college where I played on the softball team. I gained thirty pounds of muscle my freshman year from our rigorous lifting program. However, as I was incapacitated for months at a time by several consecutive injuries that muscle slowly turned into fat. I lost about seven pounds by counting calories my first three weeks of dieting, but immediately hit a plateau. I realized after doing some research and consulting a trainer that I was starving my body, and could not support my level of activity and lose weight. I have now changed my diet so that I am consuming more calories and still exercising. I am lifting three days a week with 25 minutes of interval running after lifts and doing long runs twice a week.

Does anyone know what I should expect and when my body might start reacting positively from these changes? Any tips?
