I finally woke up hungry! Sometimes I have trouble feeling hungry, but today I was excited to eat. I made myself a delicious breakfast. If it looks like I'm eating a ton for breakfast, keep in mind that I work third shift, so breakfast is two or three in the afternoon. I try to have a big breakfast and big lunch and then a lighter dinner.

I was super careful about measurements today. Two tablespoons of cream cheese is more than I realized, and I had no idea how much half and half I've been putting in my coffee. I bet I use a quarter of a cup on an average day, which is just crazy. No wonder we go through the stuff so fast. Starting today I'm cutting back, a little bit at a time.

I did a great job shopping yesterday, and there are so many things I'm looking forward to eating--healthy things! Guilt-free things! This is going to be great.

Today went completely off the rails. We just got back from house sitting, so there was no food in the kitchen, so I just didn't eat until after five. I couldn't decide if it was better to grab something terrible for me while I was out or wait and screw with my metabolism. I still don't know if that was the right choice or not. I did well at the grocery store, though. Lots of things to eat tomorrow.

I did not actually eat a piece of chocolate cake. It was orange cake, and it came from a local bakery where I couldn't get nutrition information, so I just put in chocolate cake. Today was an important anniversary for me, one when I always do something special, so my boyfriend and I had cake and mimosas. I have no regrets.

Tomorrow, though, less sugar! Also, more calories, preferably in the form of protein.

UPDATE: Made some chicken breasts with havarti for dinner. Insisted that my boyfriend eat one, since he's had nothing but sugar for two days. Felt better about my intake today.

Okay, so, day one wasn't perfect. I'm getting over the worst case of food poisoning I've ever had, and I'm still trying to take it easy on my stomach. So I ate a lot of bland, easy-to-digest stuff today. Also a little chocolate. I know I came in way (WAY) under my daily recommended intake, and that in the long run that's going to mess up my metabolism, but I just couldn't bring myself to eat anything else today. I'm trusting that in a day or two I'll be holding myself back instead.

Also, I had a talk with my boyfriend about my weight loss and health goals, and he was . . . the exact opposite of encouraging. I told him that I understand that he isn't in a place where he wants to get healthy, and that's fine, but I would really appreciate it if he wouldn't bring large quantities of junk food that he knows I like into the house. Like, maybe stop bringing home a dozen fresh donuts at a time. He groaned. I told him, "I'm not asking you to give up donuts. I'm just asking you to eat them somewhere else." He avoided agreeing.

I'm really afraid he's going to be a problem.
