On March 13th, 2007 I went to my doctor for a regular office visit and to my horror I weighed 303 lbs. That was when something inside me clicked and I KNEW I HAD to do something starting that very day. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. My doctor said my body could not tolerate carbs so suggested the Adkins diet. I started out on that and had a friend going to Weight Watchers. I went with her for moral support and found the diet to be one that I felt I could follow and to me, it was a healthier way of eating and I was learning portion control. I started walking and got up to 3-4 miles a day. Than I joined Curves. I find that exercise along with writing down EVERYthing that I eat. I am doing the flex points. I do watch what carbs that I eat and if I do eat carbs, I eat healthy carbs and whole grains. I am happier, healthier and feel 100% better. You have to take control of your life. The only person who can make changes in your life is YOU. If I can do it...I know anyone can!! The comments from my coworkers when I went back to work at school this fall are also helpful to keep me on track. I have lost, so far, 76 pounds. I cut my hair after wearing it in the same style for umpteen years and also wear makeup again. When you feel better...you carry yourself better and care about the way you look. I will not allow myself to go back to the way I was...I will lose this weight. I have the determination.
