I'm a 61 year old woman whose always been active and a healthy outdoorsy, horse-riding, hiking in the mountains, walking on the beach kind of person. I love Jesus, life and food! I believe that we were all created to enjoy the lives we've been blessed with, and should always strive for good health and personal integrity. In the last 10 years, my weight had gotten the best of me, which restricted my activity levels and everything spiraled down from there. Today, I am committed to eating less food overall, eating healthier foods that will fuel my body and support continued good health well into the future. I currently have type 2 Diabetes with no side effects and moderate range CKD - trying to lose weight and lower insulin and glucose in my blood, which will stop or slow the progression of CKD. Plus, I'd love to be slender for once in my life! My high weight about 8 years ago (more or less) was 238 pounds, and at 5'2.5" tall, I was way too round. When I started journaling my caloric intake on this site, I was about 173. My original goal was to achieve 183, which is where I was when first diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. That was 21 years ago. (Yes, I'd gone up before coming down again) Today I weigh 171 and have a new realization that I am the only one in control of my weight and my health. When I decide to truly commit, I can realize my goals. My motto for remaining committed is this: "Get busy living, or get busy dying". I choose life!! :)
