Hello All!
I'm 36 years old, married, and have one 17 year old who will be a senior in high school this year...which makes me sad...My baby is growing up :(
He's an amazing kid, with a huge heart and I could be more proud of the man he is turning out to be. I am also married to my high school sweetheart...actually I was 14 when we started dating, so technically I guess he's my junior high school sweetheart...scary ;) He is my best friend and love of my life and I would be lost without him. I also work for the U.S Department of Veteran Affairs and absolutely LOVE working with these amazing men and women who sacrifice so much for this country. Freedom is not Free. I couldn't be more honored to work with them!
I've been relatively in good health most of my life in the 120-130 lb. range until a major surgery in February 2008. With the treatments that followed surgery, along with a recent back injury, I have steadily crept up to 159 lbs. My eating habits were terrible, and I was not exercising regularly...if at all.
After doing a lot of reading and research I came across "The Eat Clean Diet", by Tosca Reno. Her books and cookbooks are amazing! Finally, something that made sense. It was exactly what I was looking for...'How to eat for the rest of my life' not just a fad diet. I've tried too many to count and only gained the weight back again (plus some) when I started to eat 'normal' again.
So far so good with eating clean. I feel better than I have in years and I looking forward to exploring so many of the new foods I've discovered. I'm eating 5-6 mini meals per day. No processed foods or white breads, pastas, and rice. I've replaced all that with lots of fruits, veggies, lean meats, fish, whole grains, and other complex carbs., and lots of water. Surprisingly, Ive found that I'm never hungry now! Who knew???
Now I'm really looking forward to the future!
