Born Dec 1955, Married with two daughters. Retired Feb 2013 after 39 1/2 years in Postal Service. Always carried a lot of weight with much denial(when I was young, it was "baby fat", when I was a young adult it was "big bones", and as I got older it was "did you gain weight"). I usually bounced up and down between 200 and 250 from High School till I hit 40 years old. That's when all of a sudden I realized I finally hit the big 300. Before I knew it, it went to 350 and finally a little over 400. That's when the health problems started, I had a pulmonary embolism which should have killed me, a little over a year later I woke up with double vision from a sugar crash (took six weeks to go back to normal) and from all the test they took with my vision problems, found out my carotid artery needed to be unblocked. After that I started eating better and dropped down to 364. Do you think I learned my lesson after all that? Before I new it, I was back in the 390's. That's when I started with Fatsecret. I'm thinking if I were a cat, I used up 8 lives already and I better be careful not to use up that last one. I know what I have to do, and am hopeful that this site can keep me focused on changing my eating lifestyle and give me the incentive to be more active. I know I'm going to slip once in awhile and that's okay as long as I get myself back on track quickly. If a Holiday, party, or special occasion comes, I will try to plan for it by cutting some calories the days before and the days after and on the occasion, I will be more aware of making better choices when eating. I know I have a lot of habits to break like eating things just so I don't have to throw it out, finishing what's on my plate even though I'm full and just plain old craving things like my favorite, cakes and cookies.
