I'm glad it's Friday. I don't know if breaking the week up in the middle with a holiday makes it easier, or worse. I'm beat already! Maybe it's the heat; 110F heat index today and tomorrow. There is relief on the horizon: predicting a high in the upper 80's on Sunday or Monday. Hallelujah! Had one of those debates with myself when the alarm went off this morning. I don't know if I won or lost, but I got up. Did 4 miles on the treadmill this morning. Speed workout - but really not too fast. Not going to run a 1/2 marathon very soon, so taking it nice and easy. Did a 1 mile warmup jog at about 12:45 pace, then two 1-mile repeats at 10:30 pace with a 1/2 mile jog in between, then cooled down for another mile at a 12:45 'ish pace. Walked another 1/4 mile to let my heartrate settle down, considering the heat. Must have been well hydrated, judging by the way I was sweating. I felt pretty good afterwards, but I'm sitting here at my desk, thinking there isn't enough coffee in the cafeteria to really wake me up right now. I don't want to lose Ryan here, so I'll keep this short. Doctor told DW not to go on the motorcycle ride because of the heat. She will probably sit this one out at the church (not the one we regularly attend), and visit with other friends who aren't going on the ride either. The ride is pretty long, out to the western state line, and the Mississippi River, have lunch and head back for a pot luck and auction. I made a pen out of a 24K 30 caliber bullet cartridge and a deer antler, and donated it for auction; curious to see what it brings. OK, that's enough chatter for now. Have a great day. Stay cool. It's 100F where I live. It's supposed to be in the 80's in a few days as well. I'm so ready. 80 is going to seem like winter :)

I am riding to the historic town of Nauvoo, IL., located at a bend in the Mississippi River, along the Iowa border, and just above the Missouri state line.

Haha, HCB! I don't envy those who work out during the day or evening with this heat wave we are experiencing. I hear you on the coffee pot trip; I didn't even make it to the coffee pot this morning; had to pick up my coffee on the way to work this morning. Was just running too late. Sitting out on the patio and drinking coffee early morning, is one luxury I look forward to when I retire again. The only problem is, whenever I retire, I go to work again. I'm eligible to retire now, but I admit I like buying things, and I like paying in cash, so I don't leave the burden to the kids. I'll have to get a job that starts later in the day. :)
