Regarding weighing yourself at the same time... yes, it's important to do that in order to avoid the daily fluctuations. Also, it might help you with your 'compulsive weighing'.
Also, please don't deprive yourself of the simple pleasure of licking your fingers.. you'll only end up seriously cheating at some point because you're not happy. Sure, there's something to be said for blood sugar level but the small amount of sugar you might take in is not going to skyrocket your insulin. In fact, in 'Extreme Fat Smash' small hard candies are listed as OK on the snack list. Find something like that, or gum, to take your mind off snacking. I've found that brushing my teeth late at night can make a difference, too.
I know how hard it can be to get out of the 'eating' mindset. I felt trapped by the fridge for a long time.. always thinking about the next meal. I think I just had to find other things to keep me busy and stop the habits that triggered me to eat.
As an example, a long time ago when my dad used to smoke, he was told by his doctor to simply put his cigarettes in a spot where they weren't immediately accessible. This way, he would notice those moments when he was simply smoking out of habit rather than need. He quickly realized that when the phone rang, he'd light up. It was the first step in a road to quitting for him. It sounds strange, but I did something similar by rearranging the furniture in my family room. I couldn't watch TV without food (a terrible habit I am forcing my kids to obey by not allowing them to eat in the family room). By changing my environment it helps me since I have to sit in a different spot now. It's a new place. I put my guitar right next to my new spot and a bottle of water on the end table. It helps a lot. If nothing else, my house is cleaner. :)
Enjoy your day!
