Today is a Saturday spent at home :) It hasn't been bad at all :) Just testing if I can manage 3 days of +/- 600 Calories. So far so good!

Would you mind inboxing me the crux of this 5:2 diet, how its followed, is it a good lifestyle choice, what do you eat and how you prep ur foods....will it work well when wanting to build lean muscle and will it work if i want to bulk up eventually...Thanks alot if you dont mind, personally i feel reading about it on the internet and stuff doesnt do justice compared to knowing it from somebody who is doing it real time

Ibiza122 Let me rather post the info here so others can also see it and benefit. The basic understanding of how the 5:2 Fast Diet works is that you eat a maximum of 600 Calories(500 Calories for Females) on two non-consecutive days in a week which you call your "Fast" days and you can eat whatever you want on the other 5 days. But that is a very loose definition and it should be worded better to say that one can eat what they want BUT keep the calories below their RDI on non-fast days so that they see better rate of results. By being allowed to eat whatever you want makes it very easy to sustain and the challenge of trying to keep under your RDI makes one become more aware of how much food they are consuming. Basically if you consume over your RDI then you put on weight but if you consume less than your RDI then you lose weight. I combined the 5:2 Fast Diet with Intermittent Fasting so I skip the intake of breakfast calories and get the benefits of both IF and 5:2. If you want to put on lean mass then you would make your meals contain more protein but still keep under your RDI so that you lose bodyfat and once you want to start bulking up then you'd play around with eating higher than your RDI but choose foods that wont contribute to fat accummulation. Its very flexible and works for me so far and I am yet to get back into the gym to help my fat loss with exercise. I've proven that I can follow the 5:2 and lose fat without eliminating curries, potatos, rice, etc. Have a look at my food journal and you will be suprised that I ate those foods and lost 6.1kg. You can eat alot of food but it has to be low calorie foods to fill you up and make choices like having a baked potato(about 200 calories) instead of frenchfries (500 calories) :) So to answer your question : Yes the 5:2 Fast Diet is an excellent lifestyle change and can build lean muscle if your meals are high in protein but combine it with IF so that you naturally increase your GH levels as well. Here's my mom's recipe : Chop/shred a cabbage then put in a collander and rinse under a tap. You want the chopped/shredded cabbage to be moist with some water on it. Put a little oil(+/-60ml) in a pot on high , add a 1tsp chopped onion, 1 tsp mustard seed and 1 tsp chillie flakes or crushed chillie. Then add the chopped/shredded cabbage into the pot and leave it to cook and stir occassionally. Add a pinch of salt and lower the heat halfway during cooking when the cabbage reduces. Leave to cook until you are happy with the texture(softnes/hardness) but be cautious that it doesnt burn on the bottom. I enjoy it braised like that and adding Trim Original(Cross & Blackwell) can give it more of a tangy taste. I had 2 cups of cabbage cooked like above for dinner last night and it was yummy just on its own like that.

LOL - yes its for 1 large head of cabbage cooked in large pot. It looks like alot of cabbage before you cook it but once u cook it then it reduces to around half or less in volume. It should last about a week in the fridge.
