Oh busy Monday!! I have a client in town this morning and then I must drive to Spokane met with a new client whose baby is still in the NICU at the hospital there. Tonight Bob and I are going to a hypnosis seminar to stop smoking. It's our third time!! It works well ... but remaining "quit" is always the hardest part. It is so easy to rationalize. That means a late night for me but that's okay. It is a positive thing.

I did a lot on the elliptical this weekend and as typical Frank always reports an increase when I exercise more, at least a temporary increase I should say. Must be something about muscles, water retention, I pretty much expect it now. No worries! I know I am doing what is good for me and there will ALWAYS be fluctuations in what Frank reports. I am definitely better at accepting the fluctuations. And, indeed I did eat more than typical on Saturday evening but when I look at the overall for the week ... it is evident that I of course did not actually gain fat.

We have very warm weather and smoky skies around here. The fires are quite a distance from where we live but the smoke spreads far and wide! It is fire season here and I always hold my breath a little that one does not spark close to our mountain home. I have great respect for fire.

Fluctuations are going to be a part of our lives, regardless of how closely we adhere to our food plans...and you've got the right attitude to endure them. You'll be back where you were in a matter of days...a few days of well earned reward is much easier to do than undoing years and years of bad choices. Awareness is key.

I used to smoke years ago, 2 packs a day for forever and I used hypnosis to quit, but mine was one on one. She lives about 1 hour away and I went and I loved it. I was so relaxed afterwards. It took all the physical cravings away but she said she could not do anything about the mental. But I quit and I cannot think of anything that would cause me to start again because I know if I have just one puff, I am addicted all over again. I wish you much luck with this. Before you go, get rid of all ashtrays, matches, lighters, clean the car ashtrays out, everything that would remind you of smoking. You are going to have a fresh start after you quit. Your skin will become translucent and so much younger looking. I was shocked how amazing my skin became. You can do this. And do not buy into that nonsense that you will gain an automatic 10 pounds, that is rubbish. If you eat, you will gain, if you watch it, you will not. I watched so very carefully what I ate because of that theory, I did not gain anything and I also worked out more because of not wanting to eat just to eat. Have veggies ready to snack on when you get the munchies. YOU CAN DO THIS.

Wow! Fingers crossed for the fires and even smoke to stay away from your home. Good luck w/ the hipnosis, I wish my sister would quit. She just doesn't want to and won't till then! Thank you for your sweet comment on my journal(my pics)!

You are welcome Cindy ... it is very true ... your kids are adorable!! Smoking is hard. It is nasty I know but I also like it. Not the smell or the taste ... more the action of it. Which probably makes no sense to most people ... but you ex-smokers out there know exactly what I mean!! LOL!! We all have to be "ready" for change ... we've done it twice before so I know we'll be successful again.

I do understand the not wanting to quit. I did not want to quit, I resented it. Actually last year I must have been under some major stress because I got in my SUV and it smelled exactly like cigarette smoke, and I had not smoked for about 20? years and after all these years of not smoking and no one has ever smoked in either of my vehicles I smelled it like it was real. I actually sat there, closed my eyes and inhaled deeply. How pathetic is that! So you see it will not be easy Carol. I wish you all the luck in kicking this habit. You have done the weight you can do this.
