Note to self - make peace with compromises.

On a usual Mon - Fri workweek it is relatively simple to track my meals and follow a 16:8 (intermittent fasting) schedule. On the weekends it is not.

Weekends should mean relaxing breakfasts with DH and time spent with friends and family. Weekends should NOT mean stressing out because of a late night dinner or not knowing how many calories are in a casserole.

I am not using this as an excuse for 2 days of gluttony. But I have come to the conclusion that if my WOE does not make room for "life" then it is not sustainable. Will keep my usual Monday morning weigh in to keep me on track.

I agree with 100%. You need room for "life" in any plan.

that is very true. The whole point of this journey is to make our lives more enjoyable. I have heard a few people on here talk about how they are very controlled during the week but much less so on the weekends. Doesn't work for me but maybe you could try it and see if you still lose.

Nicholaix - My comment on your journal, "balance", seems to be lacking in my own life.

Syndi - Very sorry to hear that - I did not know about your son. But point well taken - spend quality time now with the ones you love because tomorrow may be too late.

Weekends I just try to make wiser choices, listen to my body -- when it says it's full, to stop (no matter how much food may/may not be left on the plate. I log it in before I eat it, when possible. Sometimes it is after or the following day. The weekends, I have grace. The weekdays are more structured. Good luck!

Believe that HFLC is a way of "life" with life being the key. It is not just a way of eating or way to lose weight. It has to be real and sustainable to work. We all agree that we feel better and can do more because of better health but this is indeed a journey and not necessarily a final destination. You're on the right track:)

Gwen - I appreciate that. Have a great day!

I agree that it has to be sustainable, the LCHF has worked recently because it is easy to adapt to meals away from home or special days at home.

HCB - I cannot imagine ever going back to those low fat/high carb days. Not sure what the acronym is for that :)

Nice Post and WISE Thread...I would just say that there are "reasonable" food compromises and "Irrational, mindless" compromises. I am CONFIDENT that we ALL are able to discern the differnece!!! AND as other have already mentioned, find the Way of Eating that works for us. Thanks for posting (as always) :)

What amazes me is how I debate now with people about carbs being the bodies "preferred " fuel and that it's unhealthy to eat high fat.I am actually much more educated now and amazed at how healthier I am and how much better in general I feel. My doctor is pleased as punch, my meds have been cut in half and I am running at speeds I haven't hit in years. I used to say this was temporary to get over that plateau but I seriously can't see going back to it either.

STT - Great point! And I think we all have a tendency to want to preach that "this worked for me so it will work for you too". I learned a long time ago "to each his own".

Nicholaix - We all believed what we were told as "facts". I remember I was aghast when my Sister first went on Atkins. But it is scary to think that 10 years from now we'll learn that there is something we are doing now that is bad for us. Live and learn!

Get good at estimating and eating the proper portion.

jpartett - Portion control is something I still need to work on. This is great advice because if I know what a "portion" looks like then will make eating during the weekends less worrisome. Thanks again.
