COFFEE - If anyone reading this has had an experience with coffee and weight loss, please chime in.

My verdict on coffee - after 8 days of no afternoon coffee (only 1 cup in AM) I did not notice any change in the rate of my weight loss. So afternoon coffee is back on the menu.

NOTE: The above hypothesis is subject to change.

Buffy - When I started Atkins on 2/10/11, I decided to follow the program to the letter. More water - done. No more than 20 grams of carbs per day - done. No artificial sweeteners - done. No caffeine - uh, hold on. I went out and bought Folgers decaf and used it the next morning. By the end of the day, I was listless and had a world class headache. In addition, I started having hunger and cravings (I had already been on Atkins for about 5 days and these "symptoms" had already completely disappeared.) Needless to say, the regular Folgers came out the next day. Result - energy is back up, no headaches, no hunger/cravings. Final word on the subject - I have lost a total of 9-1/2 Lbs since starting induction 10 days ago. I think that Dr. Atkins had the whole metabolism thing about 98% correct, but when it comes to caffeine, some can handle it better than others and I think it actually helps in weight loss. Thank you for sharing your experience DCSPRES. I was getting mixed signals from Atkins. Their new book mentions coffee can facilitate weight loss but the website still says limit two (6 oz ) servings - and my mug holds 12 oz. By the way - Congratulations on the 9-1/2 lbs.

I have probably 2-3 cups per day, about half regular and half decaf. I drink it black, no creamy stuff, no sweeteners. It has made absolutely no difference in my weight loss.
