Natural things are good for you

Good for you. Have potassium and other good things. Just watch the calories. Now when you put them together with vanilla wafers, milk and eggs and make banana pudding, they become not so good. :)

It depends on how much you eat. Natural foods are going to be better for you, however keep in mind that all fruit are high in natural sugar. Bananas are a good post-workout snack, just make sure you're not eating a lot every day. I've noticed a huge difference in my hunger and blood sugar levels since I limited my fruit to one piece a day and increased the amount of vegetables I'm eating.

Why do bananas get a bad rap? Maybe because some people mistakenly think they are much higher in sugar, or carbohydrate, than other fruit. Not so. A medium banana has 105 calories and 27 grams of carbohydrate. Not much more than many other types of fruit: 1 medium pear (103 calories, 27 gm carb), 1 medium apple (95 calories, 25 gm carb), 1 cup pineapple (82 calories, 21 gm carb) and 1 cup blueberries (84 calories, 21 gm carb). Bananas do have nutritional benefits, including their high potassium content. One medium banana has 422 milligrams of potassium – almost 10 per cent of a day’s worth – considerably more than a medium-sized apple (195 mg), orange (237 mg) or pear (212 mg). So enjoy, but like everything else, in moderation...

bananas are fairly high in carbs, but they are also full of vitamins and minerals. they are also good for your digestive tract, with natural antacid and gentle laxative properties. they are also high in anti-oxidants and have a natural effect similar to nsaids in terms of being able to help lower body temperature and swelling. they're also very filling due to high fiber. all in all, a more than decent trade-off.

Bananas are good for you, in moderation. Low carb diets hate bananas, as they are pretty carb dense, but they come packed with vitamins and minerals, and are a very good source potassium which your muscles def need. I don't eat them religiously, but they have their place in a balanced diet :-)

WOW, Thanks everybody. After reading everyone's thoughts and comments I must say, First I learned new things, Second I wouldn't trade you all for anything in the world. I am in Aww of your knowledge and willingness to help. Now, after saying all of that, I am going to say that it is ok to eat a banana every morning? I know don't shoot me, or at least a few times a week. Thank You again so much.

I coincidentally read the following from Shaun T(Mr. Insanity) right after I read your post; Bananas are a high glycemic fruit, so if our goal for the #ST7DAYSLIMDOWN is weight loss, we want to choose more nutrient dense fruits from the list, rather than high glycemic fruits like bananas, which elevate blood sugar levels more than we’d like. Surprisingly, bananas actually have a glycemic index around that of candy bars!Speaking of candy bars, one slice of WHEAT BREAD has a HIGHER glycemic index than a SNICKERS BAR or banana!!

I learn something new everyday. My daughter gives me her "not green" bananas. I cut them up and freeze them for summer "ice cream" and recipes I "might" do. Thank goodness I haven't eaten them!

SHERRIE,all of us are here to help in any way we can however we may a have different take on things than you do,which would make the things we say perhaps not applicable to the situation you are asking for. As you can see from the varying comments that your question elicited. Realizing that, no one knows your situation better than *you*,what info have you come across about it from Books,Internet,Etc? I know for *me* when I have a question, having a book in hand or an article (electronic or otherwise)in front of me,allows me to read it & re-read it until I think I "got it!"....THEN when I ask the question to others & get different answers it makes a bit more sense why 1 says this & another says that. The final answer, really is up to *you* to decide. My reply to your question is: What are your goals? If your goals are clearly defined then how does eating a banana affect your goals? Once determined, you have the answer! I like this method because whatever the outcome is *I* did it! It's a wonderful feeling :D
