Cabbage and baby marrow. Usually always on special in most stores around me. Fills me up. See if there are any veg that are for a good price and precook them. Usually good for a week once cooked. And maybe put aside R200 for veg to buy as you go. Hopefully it should be enough. I love cauli&broccoli but not always cheap. But when the go for R10 a piece, I fill up in them. You can wash and freeze them. As well as green beans.

Ah thank you!! I bought 1kg of bush marrows today so l I’ll cook those up and freeze them into portions. Cabbage is a great idea because I love stir fry!!

You’re welcome 🥰 happy to help 💖 and it’s a good thing you enjoy your veggies. I can imagine it isn’t easy when you have an autoimmune disease xx

I really appreciate the advice and encouragement. It is a struggle for me because I sometimes have moments when I wish I didn’t have to be so careful about everything I eat and fight to lose every gram but then I try to remind myself that few people actually have a truly easy life and we all have a battle to fight in some area.

Tuna is my favourite. Since you’ve bought so many tins, try tuna salad — so yum! I cut up some cucumber, lettuce and jalapenos and dish them into a bowl. Add my tuna on top, sprinkle some pepper and salt and add a tablespoon of any Mayo and mix it all up. It’s so delicious! I had that for dinner last night while my family had pasta. Not that I couldn’t eat pasta, just that the tuna salad sounded more appetising! I think that proves how tasty it is 😋

Where did you buy your tuna? For that price I would clear the shelf.

Be careful with too much Tuna.. It contains trace amounts of mercury because the fish are bigger. I think you're only supposed to eat two or three cans a week 🙄. When a lady is pregnant they're not supposed to eat it.
But well done for putting yourself on the list of priorities. I also have hungry teenagers 🙈

You are very right sparrow! In fact for that reason I almost never eat more than a few cans a month and prefer pilchards because they are bottom of the food chain so they have almost no bioaccumulation. But the price ran away with me so I’ll have to share the tuna between my family of six so we all share the toxins 😂
I actually originally heard you shouldn’t eat it more to an once a month (I did a course in ecotoxicology during my studies) but I see the latest recommendations are more like 2-3 times a month but that was fresh tuna and apparently the species you buy fresh is bigger so has more mercury content than the species they can.
Thanks for the reminder! Back to pilchards 😜
