I don't about this stuff.... How do schools lose their accreditation? Are you talking about public K-12 schools? Hope it all works out in some way so your son can pursue his goals... 

holy cow! how terrible! what about home schooling through an accredited website? 

I live in ClayCo as well and my daughter who is in 2nd grade attends a ClayCo school. I feel your pain (and shame - how embarrassing that Clayton County is the first school in over 40 years loses it accreditation!) I haven't yet looked into what my options as a parent are, but if I have to - I will move her to another county (Fayette County has the best scores by far). Congrats on your son's mock trial achievements - that is a big deal! Since the GA Lottery funded Hope scholarship "runs out" for ClayCo students in two years - he will more than likely one of the unfortunate students affected by this horrible ordeal. But then, who knows - a miracle may occur and the B.O.E. may get their act together and do what they need to so that our accreditation will be restored this May 2009. Good luck to us all! 

You should be so proud of your son! You must be an incredible dad to produce such a great kid. I heard about the loss of accreditation for your school district, but this really brings it home...let us know when you find a solution! 

WOW!!! Look at you! You have come a long way baby!!! I am sorry to hear about the school issue! We want the best for our kids & I pray it happens for him! I may get in trouble for saying this but this is another reason I support school vouchers! You are such an inspiration & I am sure your son is PROUD of what you have accomplished! AWESOME!!! 

To LaosLadyATL....if his son wanted to go to Harvard, the HOPE wouldn't help him anyway - it's for GA school. But that stinks about the accredidation!! And I thought graduating from Rockdale was kinda bad - lol. Good luck to you - and to him!! Are the neighboring counties allowing students to transfer over? Especially with the scores your son undoubtedly has??
