I've been recording standing, sitting and walking time from work in my exercise log. Does anyone else do this? Do you think it counts? It ups my cals burned a lot! What do you think??

wow, i didn't see sitting in there. yes, walking and standing count. The article at: http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/HealthyWoman/popup?id=790241 says this: May 25, 2005 A new study from the Mayo Clinic shows that fidgety people can burn up to 350 calories more a day than people who sit still simply by doing what they do best -- fidgeting. If you decide to forego the gym -- chewing gum burns 11 calories an hour (if you chew six pieces at a time), standing instead of sitting can burn up to 20 calories an hour, and toe-tapping can burn nine calories an hour. If you spend two hours of your work day standing instead of sitting, you can burn an additional 340 calories a day, which can translate to a loss of 40 pounds a year for heavier people.

It totally counts. It is facinating to see how many calories our body uses in 'everyday life' and a good way to not starve oneself on 1200 cal a day diets if one is super active!

YES, it's counts. Active jobs are huge cal burners! I milk cows, I know! If I didn't have that as my job... I think I'm fat now! lol.. It counts:-D
