I am somewhat sore this morning. Got my flu shot yesterday, took ibuprofen and decided to swim a gentle session, which i did. Passed on walking because it was dark and i was tired at that point. We did shuffle to the end of the block, but even that wasn’t a walk. Thinking it’s mostly the shot because it’s primarily my left side and it’s mostly on the outer delts on the side where i got the shot. Also did massage gun there to try and minimize the sore spot. Guess that didn’t work.
Completely unremarkable workout, but a workout nonetheless. Also, the water was colder than normal and it sucked. I’ve definitely gotten soft and would never make it in the ocean beyond my knees at this point. This matters because i live on the Pacific Ocean and she is not known for being a balmy experience. Speaking of which, with the past holiday weekend, most of the tourists have gone home and we can go back to our gorgeous beach, albeit with totally different dogs than the last time.
896 strokes, 10.6 METs, heart rate data fail most of the workout, but did capture 156 towards the end and i was breathing hard when i stopped, so can confirm, but otherwise, it wasn’t a super hard one. I am going to note that i could feel my pulse in a headache mid way, that used to happen when i was a kid more so than recently. We’ll blame the shot for that. Reading this, guess I’ll take another ibuprofen to ward off the evil spirits post workout and so i can continue my weekend. Funny thing, as I’m reading this, when i started i could barely swim two solid minutes against the current so bitching about a lackluster 30 minutes without stopping isn’t exactly unremarkable. I do need to start specifically challenging myself again. Another notch on the current perhaps.
Sideways rant: I am so torn about upgrading my pool’s current system because i could get an app that allows me to control the current for various workouts, but i plan on keeping this pool for the rest of my life and that technology would most certainly become obsolete over time, so the archaic push-button remote with no precise information remains the better choice over time, I guess. I already learned my smart car lesson when my 2013 car became a brick when 2G/3G were discontinued in year 4 of ownership. Ironically, the state of California has stepped in on that and provides traffic data via 2G, so there is revived technology, boy did that go off course.
TL:DR, if you can afford full tech refreshes every five years, good for you, i refuse to play sometimes. So I’ll push the stupid manual buttons and use my phone for directions. My heated seats work without a subscription, too. Pbbbt.
Numbers below are actually good with a closer look. Blob is down further, everything else is up, but it’s water, etc. I am quite sore, which explains the water retention in the lean muscle mass and that will go away over the next couple of days. At the end of the day, shrinking the blob is goal. Now, in all honesty, I ate a lot yesterday and that’s okay. One of the downsides of swimming in cooler water is that i turn into a ravenous polar bear and trying to control it is hard. My food selections were not optimal for the activities of the day. I had ice cream around lunchtime (burned those carbs), sushi and some other non-filling nonsense like salad. I was very hungry in the evening. LIke get out of my way to the fridge before i hurt you hungry. It happens.
TIme to go up on the roof and see if i can spot the Dragon Lady doing a flyover at Miramar. Day 3 of air show and I’ve had a very nice time “talking” with my dad sitting up on the roof. Edit: went too long typing and got to hear it but no visual because of the air density.
Mid-morning edit: Forgot to mention that i tried on some clothes from my third closet (storage closet behind stuff) and the results were pretty darn good.
Lili performing puppy rescue when I’m just trying to get out of the pool. She is very vocal while i swim and expresses concern the whole time.
