I had a cheat day on Sunday as I went to parent's place for lunch & dinner. I felt like I ate a lot (although in reality I stayed under 1500 cals). My weight loss has slowed down and this is an attempt to boost my metabolism. I was doubtful, but I lost a lb today, so maybe it does work!

It really does help. I got to that point so I had to start playing with my cals a bit to keep my weight loss moving. You may have to have a high cal day every week to keep it coming off as well.
