I’m in trouble. I’ve convinced myself that if I stay under my calorie intake it doesn’t matter what I eat. I still have weight coming off but I know it’s not good for me. I also know I could lose more if I eat differently. I started by just logging my food but not worrying about how much I ate. Then I made sure I stayed under the calorie suggestion. Did I go about this the wrong way? I’m down 16.8lbs since New Years.

Type of calories in kinda doesn't matter that much as long as it's at least 500+ calories under your calories out. Obviously nutritious foods help to heal your body and keep you fuller feeling longer than let's say...Cheetos. That said, I have to keep an eye on my sodium levels due to retaining water in my joints.

I agree with Rosie. for strictly weight loss purposes any calories will do as long as their less than what you put out aka being in a deficit. that being said putting the wrong grade of gas in my truck works but isn't optimal per manufacturer recommendations. example I do 40% protein and fill the other 60% in with fat and carbs. from after Christmas until maybe 3 weeks into the new year I ate whatever I felt like. poptarts and cereal mostly. didn't gain much. but wasn't feeling great untill I went back to my proteins. now I just budget for what I enjoy. some stuff here and there but I enjoy the energy and strength chasing 4 kids more than the satisfaction of a snickers. although those are darn amazing.
