Don't give up. How frustrating to be seemingly doing everything right but still not get the results that you want. I know I'm not very patient when it comes to this stuff!!! Have you and your partner tried going gluten free? If you think that's a life-style you could live with...I wouldn't replace your wheat with "gluten-free" products, those are just as bad, if not worse. When I was pregnant my husband and I went "wheat-free" (gluten reduced), as I used to say. :) We ate lots of meat, veggies and fruit. He lost 40 pounds. I started to lose a few pounds, too...but being pregnant that didn't last long...plus I supplemented calories with a Culver's shake everyday...anyway: We were able to lose weight but cutting out all wheat products; breads, pasta's, ect. My dad, step-mom, uncle and grandpa were all able to lose weight this way, too. My hubby and dad also noticed that their joints and arthritis felt better, too...within 3 days of cutting out the wheat! It does take some planning because it’s hard to grab a quick snack when you are hungry. I know it's a "fad-type" diet but I mentioned it to my doctor and she said that she thought a lot of people would benefit from the diet, simply because it forces you to eat more naturally. Read up on “WHEAT BELLY”. We are not stuck to this diet anymore but are still wheat conscious and more often than not choose not to eat wheat. It maybe something for you to consider...Good luck no matter what you do! I'm rootin' for you!
