So much for keeping this thing updated. I make no promises for the future except that I'm going to try my best to keep up with the weight loss. As far as recording that adventure... no guarantees. I don't know why, but somehow knowing I *have* to log something makes the entire thing seem more daunting than it actually is, and therefore I often opt not to do any of it at all. If I'm eating well and staying active that's all that counts, right?

I was surprised to find when I weighed in today (for the first time in nearly a year)that I had lost 12lbs. I have no idea how that happened as I feel I've been more sluggish than ever, and haven't really been paying attention to my intake except, "wow, I'm drinking a big soda... I shouldn't eat that candy bar too".

I attribute some of that weight loss to my most recent job change at Pier 1. Since Jan/Feb, I've been working as the stockroom supervisor, which essentially just means I unload lots of heavy crap on truck day. I'm proud to say I've moved huge dressers, beds, and put together various other kinds of heavy furniture all by myself! I also make it a habit to run up and down 10ft ladders carrying dining chairs and barstools during the week. As much as I dislike this kind of retail (useless things only rich people buy), I have to say that Pier 1 has been the best thing for me in regards to getting exercise.

One other small change that I made a few months ago at work is that I now walk to the grocery store, which is maybe five store-fronts down from where I work, and buy deli sandwiches (usually tuna or chicken salad) for lunch. This has been great both for my waistline AND my wallet! Added bonus: free sandwich after every 5 purchased! Schwing!

Jumping back on the fat-secret bandwagon. It's been a while since I've done anything intentional to my weight--various factors played into that. I'm all moved now, and ready to start again; so I suppose that's all that matters anyhow. I don't currently have a scale with which to weigh myself, but intend to get one shortly.

I moved recently from small-town VA, to big-ass-city MD, and I'm still adjusting to the lifestyle. The only good I see so far in being here is that I'm closer to schools that actually have the program I'm interested in--everything else is total shite. The apartment: tiny, buggy, the back door sticks, I'm stuck parking in no-mans-land, and rent is EXPENSIVE. The city: big like any other big city, the traffic is horrendous, the streets are confusing, and the people are completely self-absorbed and rude as hell. I never thought I would say this, but I miss the rednecks. Luckily there's an OK park nearby with a 'track/trail' surrounding a pool of stagnant water they call a pond: avoid in the early evening through late night unless you want to get eaten by mosquitoes and/or weirdos. On the upside--living on my own with bills and ridiculously high rent to pay means I'll be eating much less!
