Happy Tuesday, thankful for the day! Today I took my daughter to visit her college. There was a possibility of getting take out, so, I skipped breakfast, had an orange for snack, and drank plenty of liquids to save up for calories for dinner. Sounds like a good plan -- No, don't do this as things did not go as well as I thought. We picked up Popeyes chicken and mashed potatoes -- my favorite, so my daughter thought it would be a treat for our family. It was a treat for our family, that is true; but it was hard trying to select what I wanted to eat. I even downloaded the Popeyes nutritional guide and asked my husband for suggestions (yes, that part was challenging). After careful consideration, I picked one chicken thigh and some mashed potatoes. It was so good, I wanted more but I stopped. My lesson: learn how to better manage my food budget, that I may eat and drink over the course of the day. My skipping meals to go big on dinner, for me, was not a good idea. Looking forward to continuing self-improvement, grateful for the opportunity to live and learn.

Today was my first day for planning my meal for the day. Boy, it was hard. Hopefully, it will become easier the more I do it. I am using this technique to help me to select meals that will be within my food budget. Normally, I made decisions while I am standing at the refrigerator, eat then calculate/estimate my calories intake. If I go over then I tell myself that I will be better tomorrow. Well, tomorrow is here. So, I have decided to try something different. Here is me wishing me luck! Today is a beautiful day!

Ouch! I ate way too much candy as a snack this morning. My sugar tooth kicked in and I ate too many pieces of orange slices candy. Goal: pick out a smaller serving size and put in a sandwich bag; pull out when ready for a snack or when it is a part of my meal plan.

Observation: I will need to make a meal plan for the whole day. That will probably help me to stay within my food budget. As it is now, I wait until it is meal time to draw up a meal plan. Doing this way feels hard. So, I am willing to try making a meal plan for the whole day to see if it helps.
