It is time to make some changes at the mid-point in my life (I plan to live to be 100!)

I am 52 yo man that was once a lean, strong, and very fast distance runner in school. Followed up with 10 healthy years in the USAF. But now I am a grossly overweight Information Technology Manager and it is time for a top down change!

The kids are grown and on their own, and my wife and I are ready for the next phase in our lives.

Over the past 10 years I started at the top with my mind and earned a Computer Science degree, and then an MBA at the end of 2013. I have a stable job, but it requires me to live away from home due to the long commute required each week. I want to get back in shape, find a better job closer to home, get more organized, travel with my wife, and write that series of books I have promised myself I was going to start once I finished with school. Well, times up, you graduated - time for the next challenge!

The way I see it, life can be difficult enough without creating your own obstacles like being overweight, no strike that; let's call it what it honestly is - me being fat and lazy! And that I can change.

I had my physical, blood tests, and gastro work done at the end of 2013. And except for excess weight, my doctors say I am quite healthy so there is no excuse except for my bad exercise and eating habits. That I have full control over.

So in the next ten years it will be all about habit change. I will reduce my caloric intake, exercise often, get organized, spend more time with family and friends, travel, and write.

It just took getting good and angry at myself and I recommend everyone get good and angry when it comes to your health and life. After all, this life is the only one you are going to live - why not make it an epic one!
