Hi! I'm Melissa. I am 35 years old and reside in Mahwah, NJ. I am engaged and have 2 beautiful children! I have been struggling with my weight for as long as I can remember. I grew up with my Sicilian grandmother taking care of me, and in her household food equals love! Even when I wasn't hungry she would practically force feed me. So, I learned that food was used for comfort, to eliminate boredom and any other excuse I could come up with. So now, after having my 2 kids I am 100 pounds overweight and as you all know, it is so incredibly difficult to lose anything...even when I try my hardest.
Last February, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis so losing the weight is imperative. The less I weigh, the less pressure I am putting on my joints and the less pain I will be in as well as helping prevent or curb the joint damage that will probably occur. Thankfully, the medications I am on do not make me gain weight! The one I started most recently has actually curbed my appetite quite a bit and i have been able to successfully lose about 8 pounds since the end of November.
I am a member at a nearby gym, but my gym partner moved out of the area and now I have no one to motivate me. I am so damn lazy! I haven't gone to the gym in months since I have no one there to talk to and I already a very shy person so throw me in a gym with skinny people and I am feeling super self conscience.
I am going to give this an honest effort.. I am trying to break my weight loss goal into 20 pound increments so that I don't feel like I will never reach the end. So far since I began fat secret, I am only lost 1 pound, but only 19 more to go!! No I just need to motivate my butt to exercise!!
