Hi all! My name is Becky, and I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a reader, a part-time sales associate (to name a few of the roles I maintain in this life), and last but not least- I am a South Beach Dieter!
I began this life-changing journey July 2, 2007. I had heard some things about the South Beach Diet, and like soooo many people I would declare, "I could never give-up my carbs." I made that statement out of ignorance, and fear. I could most likely write a book based on my experiences since starting this lifestyle change, and all of the changes it has engendered, as well as the perspective I have gained. I set out to lose 45 pounds, and I reached that goal on February 15, 2008. I have shed an additional 10 pounds for a total loss of 55 lbs. Now I face the task of maintaining my weight, and anyone who has ever had to lose weight will tell you that can be a tougher road to walk than the weight loss itself. The difference for me this time, though, is the way in which I have learned to eat. I could sit here all day extolling the benefits of the South Beach diet, but odds are, if you are reading this you already know them and why maintenance for me shouldn't be a challenge.
So, here it is May 7, 2008, and I am just now getting around to filling in my bio information. I am finally doing this because since having met my goal, a couple of fellow fatsecret members have written to me, and when I responded to them I realized that I am excited to share tips and words of encouragement. I realized that perhaps if I filled-in this bio I may be a help to someone who has just begun the South Beach or who maybe just needs a bit of advice. I don't consider myself a diet expert or a South Beach expert, but I am a success story, and if I can help anyone, anywhere with their own journey, then that is just the icing on the cake for me... so to speak!
