Feeling blah after arguing with my husband last night and want to eat. I'm actually afraid to leave the house because I tend to pig out on fast food when I am like this. I tried to be productive in the garden, but gave up. I know I should exercise or something, but I can't get started. Does anyone have some tips for getting through the blahs without eating 3000 calories?

Hang in there - try distracting yourself with something fun. Take a bubble bath, go buy yourself flowers, get a manicure, etc. ANYTHING that does not include eating as a reward or punishment. Good luck, we all are here for you.

I know it is tough to resist eating, esp. when you are down. Try to remember to take it one day at a time, or even one hour at a time. It'll pass and you'll get through it. Reading is a great distraction for me...maybe take yourself to a park and read under a tree, or even treat yourself to a movie as a distraction or as a reward if you can hang in there....matinees are cheap and you can lose yourself in the story. Go to a garden center to browse, even if you can't buy...just break the doldrums by going somewhere (at least this is what I need to do...staying home often leads me to eat more). I hope it helps to know that lots of people are pulling for you, and are going through the same trials. Also recognize how much you've achieved, steady progress and weight loss, so pat yourself on the back!

Everyone, thanks for the advice. I like your ideas and will keep them in mind. The gym definitely gets the endorphins going and that would help and I also thought about looking for plants on sale which is always a fun search. I was afraid to leave the house because of my tendency to go for junk. I ended up sleeping for a while which kept me from eating and helped the time pass. I then did eat a little too much, but held it to foods that weren't incredibly fattening. During that time, I was definitely in the mode of trying to survive one hour at a time. Luckily, when I woke up the next day everything was fine. Whew!
