I feel the same way. It is almost unbelievable to not have those cravings and to rarely feel hunger. I ask myself why doesn't the world know about this. I am down almost 55lbs in 51/2 months. Isn't it so liberating.

You give me hope! TY for inspiration and all the pointers and sharing your experience and progress.

@2426girl "why doesn't the world know about this" Exactly! I find myself thinking "oh are you still eating carbs" when people go on about how many Zumba classes to work off half a chocolate cake. Not my business. But I'm soooo bowled over by this woe, so grateful to have stumbled on it here on FS.

Thanks for chiming in guys- I'm sure this isn't the primary reason, but there is a staggering amount of money to be lost by massive corporations with this way of eating. I mainly eat all fresh foods that I prepare from scratch plus buy a few packaged/bottled convenience foods that are generally made either made locally or at least by smaller, more ethical/ organic food producers. There are so FEW items that are useful at mainstream grocers (besides produce) and places such as Costco. This woe supports farmers and not the packaged food giants so it doesn't pay to advertise it. Plus, you have to admit, even for a clever person the shift to Keto has a learning curve, some serious adjustments to mindset and habits and perhaps even a keen interest in "hacking" the body in an unusual way. It takes creativity to get through social situations, traveling and I think, in the end it just comes down to timing. People will have an open mind to a new woe when they have had it with the craziness of "trying to do the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

I'm seeing a lot of posting about the keto process, it does seem a lot like Atkins, I'd like to research if more there seems to be so much on the internet, can you recommend a good site or resource for the beginner.

I actually think Atkins is an awesome way to get started on a ketogenic diet. Atkins has a very clear induction process that focuses on the most important thing in the beginning which is how to get off carbs to teach your body to use fat instead for fuel. Very importantly, there is an emphasis on a minimum amount of fibrous vegetables and to not count calories in the beginning--in the beginning always eat when hungry, eat fat, eat fatty protein, stay under 20 Net Carbs etc. Atkins is how I started out and they have great recipes. I strayed from Atkins after a few months because I do better just staying at under 20 carbs, staying away from grains and avoiding the processed foods and sweeteners they allow- also keeping protein more moderate than Atkins after several months. For general very healthy Keto tips I really like Primal Health Edge and they have lots of videos on YouTube/ family living an organic, mainly Paleo, ketogenic diet. 😊

Hi perks- yeah I know about those guys at Keto connect too--that's where I got my coconut flour tortilla recipe from. Fast, easy, low cal and they keep well in the fridge. I also bought the ingredients to make their no-bake peanut butter coconut cookies but I was slow to get going on it and my daughter gradually ate up all the crunchy peanut butter. 😄

2426 Girl - you are inspiring me !

Bluecoaster, you mentioned how keto eating doesn't favor the "manufactured" food industry. For myself, I'm focusing on simpler eating -- not fussing. I'm not doing keto, as you may know, but shooting for 75-100g carbs and more protein instead of sweet, high-carb, low-fiber, low-nutrition packaged treats (e.g., cookies, ice cream). I'm really enjoying fresh or frozen veggies and fresh fruit purchased every few days.

And, even though nuts aren't strictly allowed on the "Global Weight Loss Program," I find that 14 roasted almonds (half an ounce) are a good protein-and-fat snack

Good for you Miraculum! Its wonderful to find a way of eating that feels natural and sustainable for the long term. Whatever works and improves your health is fantastic! Fruit wise I only eat organic berries and very sparingly because I was prediabetic before adapting to a ketogenic diet. But if you can eat fruit without getting the munchies later on that is wonderful. Nuts in moderation/on occasion are lovely, I agree. 😊
