Happy Thursday - Guess I need to clarify one of my comments from yesterday's Journal.
Tracy's point was if we are not dieting, grocery stores can be fun - we all like new food so we search the supermarket for new selections of breaded, fried, and overly processed foods, not to mention cookies, pies, etc.
So maybe we can turn this around. Lets make grocery shopping fun. I challenge us all to go to the store with a new attitude this week. Check for a new variety of vegetable or fresh fish, etc. Maybe some seasoning mix to jazz it up. Lets share what we find!

Paula, I love to grocery shop...it is the only shopping I truly enjoy! lol

Oh, Buffy, don't even get me started...our big van, Bertha, only gets 10 miles to a gallon! LOL...just venting!! lol

Love the idea Buffy...going to flick through my cookbooks too for some fresh ideas....re cost of living...what are you paying for a gal of gas? I have just done all the conversions (we buy in litres) and we are paying $8.57 per US gallon at todays exchange rate.

Your gas is a lot higher than ours, Di. We are at $3.20 but everything is spread out here...the closest store is 6 miles away. If we had to pay $8.57 we would not be able to afford to go anywhere! WOW!!!

Di, if ours gas prices go that high, and they are saying they could by summer, my 17 MPG SUV will be sitting in the driveway. What am I saying? It's already sitting in the driveway. I wait for other people to go to the store or whatever and beg a ride. I love the idea of shopping for something new, but my only grocery access is Walmart. I can't even get parsnips there, let alone something more exotic. LOL!

There are a couple of things I've tried that I wouldn't have tried if I hadn't begun this WOE....jicama, rabbit, white asparagus, purple cauliflower, orange cauliflower, and colorful lettuce(s), or is that letti???!! LOL! But, there's lots more out there that I just need to muster up the courage to give a chance.

I have a love / hate relationship with grocery shopping. I love picking out nice fresh produce & selecting the meats as I envision what the meal will be. That's the good part. The part I hate is the parking lot, too many people (if I go after work, I prefer early morning shopping), waiting in line & last but not least....the prices are outrageous!

I forgot to tell about these little bacon wrapped chicken breasts we tried the other night....ummmm, a HUGE YUMMY those were.

Buffy, a brilliant idea. Love the non-FS challenge challenge. I actually love the grocery store (except for the lines)', love the produce section and checking out what new non-dairy cheese is available. Hope you're husband feels better very soon.
