Johanne的日记, 2011年10月12日

Years and years and YEARS ago, I bought Andrew Weil's book, "Eight Weeks to Optimum Health." I dug it out today and started leafing through it. I found that I am now doing much of what he recommended way back then. A lot of the foods he said needed to be found in Asian markets or health food stores are now available even in Walmarts. I think I'll actually do the program and see what new things I learn. I have week one under my belt, but I will start from scratch anyway and try to get into the whole salmon thing. Have I mentioned I only like white fishes, heavily breaded and deep fried? I have a feeling those don't count.

I'm feeling more myself today. Still not 100%, but getting there. I'm going to get set up for my felting project and start it tomorrow morning. That means I will be watching the DVD again this afternoon and evening. I still don't have my 10' table dug out from under my daughter's trash in the garage. It's not even possible at this point. I'm going to put my folding camp table at the end of my trestle table and see if I can get the length I need that way. I'm hoping to bring in a little Christmas money this way.

I'm off to start reading and eat my lunch.

All of my feta and Kerrygold Dubliner are gone. I won't be buying any more cheese. :-(

Can't wait to hear the results! Good luck with the felting project! AS for the cheese, I will eat enough for you too!

I'm pretty sure the introduction of cheese back into my diet was the cause of the rise in lipids. I adore cheese and have been craving feta. If I don't bring it into the house, I can't eat it. Feta, be gone! (Boohoohoohoohoohoo. Yes, that's me crying.)

I'm 17 days coffee free and I'm working on being sugar free too, today only counts because those Chai Tea Latte's are loaded with sugar, I usually can't finish a grande. It sucks to have to give up the things we love, but don't love us back. Maybe after you cut out the cheese for a little while you can have it in small amounts without it being too much of a detriment.

Congratulations on your desire and determination. Every day is a new day! I am not sure where you are but if you have an Aldi's near by (a grocery store) they have Salmon patties that are prepackages, weighed already and dont taste bad. I am a white fish person too but am really working on Salmon a few times a week. Good luck.

Bren, it's hard. Especially when the food you have to give up is a healthy food. Love you back!

CD, it DOES suck. I gave up cheese when I first started and now I have to do it all over again. Good luck with the coffee and sugar. I just started drinking coffee last year for the antioxident and altzheimers benefits. I found out milk products cancel out most of those benefits in coffee, chocolate and tea (hence, MILK chocolate not so good) so now I use unsweetened almond milk and I use Truvia (stevia) as my sweetener. Stevia has the added benefit of lowering blood pressure, although that is something I don't need to do.

bfd, thanks for the tip. I'm just east of Kansas City in Missouri and we do have Aldi's.

I would cry too, I have actually cut my cheese consumption down and I started losing weight - I think there is some correlation lol

Bonnie, sorry about the cheese, especially the Dubliner....what an awesome cheese that is! I would cry myself if I couldn't have it anymore. Enjoy your felting project...I really need to get going on some Christmas projects myself. Have a great day, and enjoy this lovely weather. Love and hugs, my sweet Odessa friend!

Lauren, unfortunately, I think you're right. It's not only the lipids, but I quit losing weight about the time I put the cheese back in the diet. Damn!

Stef, I LOVE Dubliner. I can't often afford it, but when I can . . . WOW! It's the feta that was the problem though. I was eating it by the 4 oz hunks. My East Indian dish that I make daily won't be the same without it. As for the felting project, we have a guild in Kansas City that my DIL is a member of (you can only join in January) and they have a sale in Johnson County, KS (as in, they have money down there) every November on the weekend before Thanksgiving. I'm hoping to have enough of these scarves to put in her sale stuff to make a little bit of cash for Christmas. Right now I'm in the experimental stage, but the first one didn't turn out too badly. It's another gorgeous day. We need to enjoy them, 'cause the colder weather is supposed to move in next Thurs. Love ya!
