No change in my weight, but my belt is in one more hole. At this point, last time, I ordered a new belt. I can't afford to this month. I have to be patient a few more weeks. Right now none of my trousers fit properly.

Puzzle: My waist size is somewhere below 36" in trousers. My current belt is a 34" one, and I'm below the mid-point (i.e., my waist is smaller than 34 inches), but 36" trousers are only a bit loose, 37" trousers are VERY baggy, and 40" trousers fall off at once.

A pair of trousers (37" waist) I'd bought 4 months ago as dress clothing) are now far too loose. My consolation is that many people have far, far worse problems!

I think clothes vary so much.. Depending on he brand. Some brands are on the small size - some on the loose side - annoying I know

Annoying is the word for it. The clothes and the belt, however, are the same brand. This is why it's such a puzzle.

Mens clothes have the same issue as women's clothes... each pair of pants has a different cut, and that leads to a very different fit. I find jeans are the worst offenders for that. I can try on 2 different pairs of jeans from the same store and they fit differently! And I love your last thought... you could have much more difficult problems to deal with!

Its expensive but a good problem to have in a way. Hope you can keep your pants up until you can get a new belt! (LOL)

I just have a few weeks to wait, so it isn't an inordinate amount of time. I like L.L. Bean's line of jeans, they're both comfortable and durable, and I can wear them to work (there are some very nice khaki-coloured ones). I seem to, ahem, slim out of them at a relatively fast clip. What bothers me is that my belt is one size, and my trousers another.

How exciting such a small size now.....enjoy and just say you are the smaller size, yes us women have the same problem.....why not wear your Braces......at least your not in the Big and Tall shop any more......celebrate.......

Do you buy your belt and pants in the same store, the same make/manufacturer? Welcome to the world of women! We can be one size in our - ahem panties - and another size in the skirt or trousers that go over them. We are a size small on top and a size large on the bottom. Different manufacturers make different sizes. I can be anywhere from an XL to a large, an 18 to a 14. Its not easy, at all. But if the manufacturer of the trousers and belt are the same then they should be the same size. Good luck with your clothing adventures!

As a matter of fact, the belt and trousers are from the same brand. This is why it is such a puzzle. I've got a 34" belt right now at below midpoint and trousers which at 37" were tight when I got them now loose (but my 36" trousers are also loose, just not as loose). I just wish manufacturers were honest. I'm glad I'm not in the big and tall shop any more. Sadly, I don't own any braces.

So very happy for your success!! the loss of 195lbs is an amazing achievement. The clothes are frustrating during the transition. I am running into some of the same problems with my clothes for work. What a nice problem to have. No more Big & Tall!!!!

I heard that manufacturers are making their sizes bigger so people feel better about themelves. The better we feel the more we buy. That could be the reason for the differences. I know that I am currently in a size 12 jeans. They are loose but not overly so. Another pair of size 12 jeans fall off me. I just bought a pair of size 8 jeans and they fit nicely. Another paid of size 8 jeans are a bit too tight. it is a very frustrating thing to go shopping these days and has been for a long time if you are a woman. I believe that Mens clothing now is getting to the same point. Sad. it would be so much easier if you coulld trust the size cut and fit of a brand. Probably never again though..... Still, as you said, I am very happy to be looking for clothing that is smaller than what i currently have. I hope to never have to hunt for a larger size again.

Esimmons, this is true. Also, a manufacturer's inch is not the same as an actual inch.

A long long time ago in a land far far away I worked for a textile company. It was one where pretty much everything was done by hand so possibly not the type of place or clothes come from today. But I watched people cut the garments and sew them. When they cut them, they rolled out layer on layer of fabric and then took a large knife that looked like a moveable band saw and cut out the clothes from the patterns. If you cut a little outside the line, it was not big deal, same for inside the line. In fact if fabric was scarce, they might shrink the pattern just a touch in order to get all the garments out of the cut. When they sewed the garments, they used surger machines that cut off the fabric as they sewed. Again, this coud cause size differences. I am sure they have robots doing all this stuff now or maybe they have 8 year olds doing it... Either way, the process of mass manufacturing clothing is facinating and you can easily see why the fit is never exact. All that said, the size thing is really getting rediculous. No process can explain it ... It has to be marketing.

To answer your question about how warm it gets in autumn in the frozen north - lol - Toronto is expecting highs of 20 celcius by this week-end. Unusual for October. It would be rare to get 10-15. So will enjoy it while it lasts.

like many others have said...jeans and other garments just dont come in the same sizes..different name brands are always different from one brand to the next...i tend to stick with the same brand...knowing it will fit as the weight comes off...and like you im in need of a new belt...but at the moment have chosen to must make extra holes in the belt i have...way to go on working all that weight off...a very nice accomplishment...one you should be very proud of....

Fledgist, that is a good problem to have....you are really doing fabulous! Soon the 36's will be falling off also. Hope you have a great day!

I'm just moving from 38 trousers to 36 (can't get 37 in Marks and Spencer). From experience, 36 will take me right down at least another stone and a half. In other words, those two sizes do for me from 16 stone down probably to 12 stone 7 (don't know about the latter--that would be my furthest south). I do have some 34s in the cupboard--sad to say, they've rarely been used. If I hit that waist size, I will be able to move in society sporting the height of mid-nineties fashion.
