I am in the same boat..if I get them to fit my waist then my bum is lost in the material..LOL and if I get them to fit my bum then I have to leave the button undone...and I also have a hugh muffin top...I can't afford to loose much more on my rear or I won't be able to sit very well..LOL... 

Bren - It is so frustrating, but I refuse to wear slacks with elastic waist. Pants with elastic waists only look good on people who don't need to wear slacks with elastic waists.  

LOL, you are so right Buffy & Bren! Why is it "they" can't make pants for real women? Finding a good pair of pants/jeans is so hard, why is that?  

GG - Think they are made by men for Barbie Dolls. 

Actually women designers are worse than men designers... I hate to say that but its true. Buffy, I have issues with pants all the time.. I have resorted to yoga pants as every day attire because I couldn't handle it lol 

LOL Buffy, I know I hate those with the elastic..they make me look bigger and who needs that??? LOL I think your right...as the mens pants are straight instead of cut way inward at the waist...We would have to be almost 6 foot tall to even come close to what Barbie looks like...LOL 

P.S. if I was 6 foot tall and weighed what I weigh then I would be skinny...LOL maybe I need to get my legs stretched..now thats an idea..LOL 

Pixi - Will have to take your word for it on the female designers. Think I'm just bitter because I'm not built like I used to be.  

Bren - Yes, the right cut jeans do kind of act like a girdle don't they? 

That's why I keep ALL my good-fitting pants, jeans, and shorts; they're just so darned hard to find!! Buffy, don't worry about your waist. Once you get to where you want to be, your body will readjust its fat deposits and you may find that waist getting smaller seemingly on its own. Or, maybe that's just an old wives' tale, but I believe it anyway....you know, losing weight shows up on your face before anywhere else but then when you stop losing, your face fills in so it doesn't look as gaunt. I just assume that's the way it goes with other body locations, as well.

Buffy - know what you mean about not finding pants to fit, that's why I finally gave in & started buying elastic waist. This way they at least fit my waist and aren't baggy in the butt area ! It's a realy problem, but congratulations on buying new jeans :) 

I just bought a pair of Levis. I don't usually pay that kind of money for jeans but when I tried them on and they fit perfectly I had to do it. Of course they were on sale at Kohls and I had a coupon for 15% off so they weren't as much as they could have been. 

Notfast - It may come to that. 

I think most people have problems - I always find the waist bands are too big - or it will look fine from the front but there is a big gap between the waistband and my back from behind - I guess I am also a weird shape to what they class as the "norm". 

Karen - I'm trying on old clothes - trying to find slacks to wear to work because I cannot really afford to buy new clothes right now. But you are absolutely right about trying on different brands for a good fit. Sometimes you get exactly what you pay for.  

Sandy - I like your theories!  

Tracy - You have the hourglass shape. I have the pear shape. Want to trade?  

Well, I have to vote not in favor of the elastic waist. That's all I've worn for years. My wardrobe (outside work--where I wear scrubs) has been sweat pants and a t-shirt for many years. Then I discovered that elastic waists ADD to my weight gain. I just didn't notice when the pants were getting tighter because they were baggy and had the elastic waist. So now I am trying to get back to pants/shorts with a waist so that I can tell if they are getting tight. Problem is I can't afford to buy new pants/shorts every few months. I'm thinking I need a belt.
