Ha- I knew it! The doctor called this morning and guess what? My iron levels are low. Really? Thing is I don't want to take these highly dosed tablets again. They made me feel rotten last time. I can't pick them up til next Tuesday anyway as I board a plan to Germany in a few hours - and on Tuesday I have another appointment with a different doctor so maybe there is a different solution. Are there longtime implications if you are iron deficient? I am sure once the monthlies come to a stop, my body has a chance of catching up!?
Looking forward and dreading seeing my mum. It won't be easy!

Have fun in Germany! From what I know there are no long term effects of iron deficiency but http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Anaemia-iron-deficiency-/Pages/Complications.aspx might give you some more info. Good luck with the new Doctor too :)

Visits can be tricky! I'm feeling for you! Eat your way to increase iron levels can be tricky, but maybe find the highest sources of foods may help a bit?

If you can find it, there's a tonic supplement I use called "Floravital", by Salus. It's an iron/B-vit supplement - liquid, and not too hard on the stomach though of course I try to take it with or after food. (UK site is salusuk.com) - hope this helps!
