First of all, My step count is nothing, compared to what most of you are doing. I’m just glad to see improvement in this month as opposed to last

That’s my average. On weekdays, I can reach 7,000 steps. 10k seems like a stretch for me but that’s what I was doing 2 years ago. Crazy how things change.

I recently read that 10k steps a day aren’t really necessary. It said even 7000 can be really beneficial to most people. I’m not a step tracker but have in the past. I work at a desk all day so I would get myself worked up if I was only at 3000 by end of the day and then just end up trying to make up for it at night and on weekends so I don’t think doing it that way is really the purpose of the goal. Now I am just trying to make little micro improvements to how often throughout the day I get steps.

Aren’t you on your feet all day at school? I figured steps were easy peasy for ya. 🤷🏻♀️

Wifey yes! Although there are more periods of time where I’m standing in one spot. (Preparing food, dishes, serving food).

I don’t pay that much attention to step counts. it’s such a rough estimate and I’ve noticed when I mow, push a shopping cart or am carrying anything where my arm isn’t swinging I don’t get many. A short friend of mine always gets astronomical amounts when we are together and her device is set up for her height. So, all in all I use it to compare how I’m doing day to day, but never think much of it compared to others.

Moko, I think the 10,000 step recommendation is referring to all your steps in a day (tracked on a pedometer, not a phone). A phone only tracks some of your steps. 10,000 just tracked by your phone is doable, but it’s a lot!

Oh I wear a watch that tracks my steps, too. I feel consistent movement is more beneficial to me than meeting the step count although that can be a great way to keep activity levels up!

I don’t actually count my steps, i just try to close my rings as best I can. It’s all about moving. That said, if I’ve done a hike or something, yeah, I’m going to look at them.
