Johanne的日记, 2015年08月27日

Another week lost. But, once again, I didn't gain. Each day is a new beginning with new choices. Stress levels are still through the roof. My Dr wants to up the Lexapro. We lowered it a few years ago when I had the vasospasm that did a little heart damage. I don't want to take a chance by raising the meds. I have to find a natural way to get past the stress. The causes aren't going away any time soon. Meditation? Different foods? I have to go into investigation mode. I hope all my wonderful buddies have a wonderful week!

There is something called MBSR - Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. Sometimes you can find a class to attend where they teach you ways to mediate and breathe well. Or, if you are in an area that does nothave it, you may be able to buy a CD of it. Good Luck!

Try 1 tablet of SAM-e 400mg by NatureMade. It's all natural and will do wonders in helping you cope with the stress. Don't buy the cheap stuff. It's not the same formula and does not work as well if at all. I tried that. The stress will still be there but it just won't bother you like it once did. I take it almost everyday. It's just amazing. I love it.

Don, I looked up SAM-e. I'll check with my pharmacist on Monday to see if I have to worry about drug interactions. This sounds like it could help a number of my issues. Thanks!

Did the Lexapro cause the vasospasm?

I don't think so. They really don't know what caused it. My psychiatrist lowered my Lexapro from 20 mg to 10 mg because she said some antidepressants can exacerbate heart issues if you already have them.

Even fifteen minutes a day of meditation can have a huge effect on stress. Also, bio-feedback is great for people who carry stress in their bodies. And since you're hoping to stay on a lower dose of Lexapro, I'll mention that there has never been an antidepressant proven to be more effective than regular exercise at helping lower depression and anxiety. Hope that helps. Hang in there!

I was just going to say exercise. Something with strength as well as cardio. Yoga, Pilates Tai Chi, kettle ball are all good. There are lots of online videos through youtube and other places all free and some very good. YOu just have to weed out some of the ones that are not. Fitness Blender, Popsugar, and Bodyfit by Amy are a few good ones I know of. I find my suspension trainer workouts or any workouts. help cut the stress from my job.

Walking for at least a half hour or longer every single day will help to relieve stress, Bonnie. I used to do this in a bad marriage. I was a lot younger back then and wound up running along with it ... increasing up to 3 miles a day. It helped me through a very bad time in my life with something positive. I felt so good afterwards.

I would go work in my garden to reduce stress in my former 2 marriages or in the winter involve myself in sewing projects that I could lose myself in. Now it's exercise.
