Ten years ago I was 40 and weighed 2/3 what I do now. What happened is I got married. My husband is 14 years older than me and was not anywhere near as fit as I was.

Instead of keeping up the active lifestyle I had led until then, I got sedentary, waiting for him to feel good enough to come do those activities with me, that I used to do on my own.

No, I'm not blaming him. I'm not blaming myself either. It snuck up on me. It happens.

In ten years I gained an extra pound for every two pounds I weighed. I gave myself knee and ankle problems, skin problems, visceral fat, and fatty liver disease.

You might think if it took ten years to put it on, it should take ten years to take it back off. But I don't think so, because I wasn't actively working on putting it on. But actively is how I'll be taking it off.
