Prayers for your son 🙏 

It is very telling, that in crisis, I thought of my FS family , that I do not know personally, as the ones to turn to for strength and support( above even my blood and church families). And you came through for us. Thank you to the CO brothers!! God heard and answered all of our prayers. I took a redeye flight out this morning. I asked the surgeon if the procedure went as intended. He said yes- He accomplished his goal. He was fearful that the eye would be compromised too badly to stitch it back together. The lens is lost. We’ll have to have a second cornea transplant. It will still be days post surgery to know the next steps. But I felt and feel the power of your prayers and supports and comments. My son asked me just now if I was tired. I told him no, I am running on mom energy /adrenaline 😂. He is looking great and sporting a patch and ambulatory, wanting to get back to work, though he should be out for a bit. I want the kid who delivered that punch to face consequences. My son; as he does, says that the punch was not meant for him and these things happen He is ready to move on.

He's a forgiving soul, bless him, it takes a man with humility and grace not to want some type of retribution. You raised him well! 

Does he have a Union? Does his employer cover his time out and health costs? You don't need to answer here, but these are just questions to ask. I used to teach in Juvie and was injured on the job. There were some compensations available. Maybe a lawyer should be consulted. Workers Comp will fight paying what they should. I wish your son the best possible healing.

Update- We had a good night. The other good is that my raging appetite has disappeared! However I am certain that I will find it along with any lost pounds shortly!😂😂 Please stay prayerful and thank you for your support. @erikahollister my question after the emergency situation really was- what questions should we be asking and what should we be doing? So thank you for raising that topic. I hope that you fully recovered from your injuries. This is a tough job of CO. These young people (so young!!!) are hurt. I believe that hurt people hurt people.  

What your son said is pretty true usually, the getting hit in this job happens, I had an inmate jump on my back to try and stab another inmate and he cut my partner by mistake. I'll still be praying for more miracles, love for my brother that's down. 🙏  

@tlbrewer and all -You understand how these things go for sure! I hope that your partner was not seriously injured. I am sharing your messages with my son. He is really being encouraged through them.

I know someone who has a successful cornea transplant. hopefully he'll retain some sight.  

This was about 10 years ago, but my partner was out for a couple of weeks, not as bad as your boy, but it was scary.

Thank you all so much! I shared in another post tonight that he is progressing. It is all still scary for me, but my son is back at work and seems to be taking it in stride. Healing is expected to take awhile, and may include more surgical procedures- like another cornea transplant. 🙏🏽
