I feel like I need support right now, the people physically around me are unable to support me in this journey and I am making meals for them while separate meals for myself. Which makes temptation sooooo hard.

I have received medical diagnoses that have completely changed the way I have to eat
lupus
Fibromyalgia level 4
Acephalegic migraines
type 2 diabetes brought on by a reproductive system riddled with fibroids and cysts. We assume that has been brought on my me being mid40s and starting the menopause journey.
We are going to try manage the type 2 diabetes naturally before taking Medications.

This leaves me with no sugar, no gluten, nothing refined, no additives or chemicals, no nightshades, and preferred no dairy.

I am already getting bored with variety. I am not feeling creative and I am feeling discouraged. Regardless of knowing it is a health requirement, I really struggle to stay strong.

Hi Spencergirly, so sorry to hear about your diagnoses. It must be very overwhelming for you. Has your GP referred you to a dietician to help with meal planning for you? I just did a quick search entering gluten, sugar, dairy free recipes and came up with this site: https://www.cottercrunch.com/anti-inflammatory-meal-plan-dairy-free-gluten-free/ These may not appeal to you, but doing a search for recipes with your limitations should yield results. Maybe you can find some recipes that you can have and that those around you would enjoy too. Stay strong. 😊👍

Check out: https://www.allergyfreealaska.com/ I have her on my likes on FB because her recipes. Not all of them are good for me but by browsing her website, I can challenge myself or swap out certain ingredients I can't use for ones that are friendly to me. I have faith in you Spencergirly as I too go through periods where I lack the creativity for my meals. You will get there. Karsiob is right in that there are tons of recipes out there but you have to muddle through them to find ones that will work for you.

I don’t have any advice but I want you to know that I hear you.

Maybe those around you could support you by eating similar to what you’re eating?! The Internet has oodles of food options. Maybe those around you could research recipes they might enjoy, but fit your parameters. Maybe this would make your journey easier. ❤️ I went vegan for a decade and made different foods for my family too. You’re right, it’s really hard. I hope my thoughts might help you. We are here for you. What do you think you need?

God bless ya. I don't have all the health issues you do but it's definitely been a struggle to stay out of that zone the past 6 months or so. No support.. honestly, I've kind of separated myself, food wise, from the rest of the family (fortunately they're grown enough that they can fend for themselves) and it's hard enough to stay on track with the stuff in the house, let alone having to prep it for them too. I'm sayin a prayer for ya. Keep your head up. I like to find websites that have recipes that line up with my dietary needs. It helps when I'm feeling stuck in the same old boring meal plan for too long. Worst case scenario, you can just start feeding them what you eat, and if they want something else they better learn to cook. 😏 As long as it's nutritious they really have nothing to complain about.

Chuckles, that it indeed a great idea Mari! Maybe her family will climb on board if they all know what is required. And if they don't like it they can learn to cook for themselves ;)

In Alberta and BC for sure they have a program called Better Choices Better Health, which is a six week class/support group. Primary care networks offer Craving Change. Dealing with chronic illness is tough on its own. Make sure you're taking care of yourself first. Wellness Together has some free ptograms as well including counseling. I agree with everyone else that you should cook one meal for your family, because healthy eating benefits everyone

Thank you everyone for your support, I am on a wait list to see a nutritionist. And my kids are falling into suit nicely. It is my partner that is not taking it well. He is hiding all his sweets from me now lol, that helps! They will all hopefully be on board 100% soon. Massive adjustment for everyone. I am hoping to try and slowly faze the meals and hopefully soon they won’t notice ;) I am a supreme trooper, so I am hoping the little bumps will become easier after a while. I will look into all the suggestions offered :) it is much appreciated

That's great to hear that your family is supportive in their own way. Be gentle with yourself and I'm glad you're on list for a nutritionist.

You’ve got my support. I can sort of understand the difficulty with the nutrition side of things. Someone in my life had a random case of anaphylaxis (we will never know what triggered it) which led to obliterated gut health, which has either caused or is the result of hormone imbalances, all sorts of food intolerances, etc. We are slowly working back, but it’s a long tough road which isn’t helped by the extreme dietary restrictions. Restaurants? Forget about it! Premade portable snacks like: yogurt, cheese, protein bars, pepperoni sticks, beef jerky, smoked salmon, cereal, treats, etc? Nope. Aside form a couple of products from a couple of companies everything is made from scratch where we can control the ingredients. Just about everything premade has at least one if not multiple restricted ingredients for our situation. You’re not alone. 😉

Just adding my support. Like you, I have several medical conditions that have necessitated changing my eating habits. And, as with your partner, my husband still has his "naughty" foods, but keeps them in his office so I don't get tempted. I'm 90% sure my type 2 was brought on by stress and stress eating the year my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer. My doctor now considers me as "non diabetic", with an A1c of 5.5, so it's possible to contain that beast solely with food and no meds. You can do it! Little steps. Little changes. You WILL do it!

Thank you for your support, it is definitely a struggle but I feel like I am finally finding a groove. The really hard part right now is not eating the baking I make for my boys lunches! But it is teaching me restraint! I am feeling really proud of myself right now
