How much are you exercising? 1500 cals is definitely very low. I wouldn't recommend it. I'd say 2,000 cals is already quite a big deficit (based on your measurements). Hm, pretty odd that over 1700 cals makes you gain weight. What have you been eating? Perhaps it's a lot of sodium or other stuff that causes water retention and bloating instead of actual fat - frankly I don't think that's possible. I'm sorry I wasn't much help but maybe try to increase your intake a bit more and see how it goes for a week or so (find the average weight difference at the end of the week, not day by day). It's generally better to lose it slowly and steadily rather than rocket down. I learnt that the hard way (but keep ignoring it 🤣)

Not excercising, besides going to the beach most nights. I just don't feel hungry during the summer months.

I feel as if the guys at work are getting into my head, and I'm now second guessing myself , when it's been working for me the last few months. fs had me set at 1700 Cal's but I wasn't losing weight, so I dropped 200cals and started losing it. My diatition doesn't seem to mind, she just wants me to pack it with protein. So I eat fish and eggs every day.

fs told me 2500, but I dropped to 1000cals.

Stick to your diet. You will not lose weight on 2500 calories a day unless you run a marathon every week.
|
everyone's metabolism is different, stick with what is working imo it's your journey not your workmates.

You should contact your dietitian to work this out for you, all the best 🙏

if you're not fainting or feeling light headed, not nauseated, or feeling any ill effects, AND you're feeling full, then please listen to your body, not your mates. We all have great advice some of the time, but knowing what works for you is the key here. You do you pal, and keep it up! 💚

I just got told my calories on here is 2900 calories, i weight 10kgs more that you, don’t shame, anyway, I was shocked it was so high. What does that mean, I just joined, it that what I eat to maintain or to lose weight, I will have to ask my dr.

Keep up the protein and do what feels right for your body. Check the scales once a week(ish) so you don’t obsess. It’s a lifestyle change! Once you hit your goals you can look at adding more cals to go into maintenance mode :)

It all depends on your activities during the day and your age. If you have a sedentary job then the cals you need won't be as much as you think.

As others have said. How do YOU feel? If you feel well, don’t have a hunger to eat more and are filling up on nutrition, keep at what is working. I am finding a lot of “friends” do a bit of unconscious sabotising as they don’t want their friends (us) to change. If you are worried about the calories, allow yourself the occasional custard tart, chinese or cooked chook 😉 and know that by doing so you are demonstrating to your body that it isn’t starving. It also makes it more sustainable for you in the long run. Most of us relaxed a little over Xmas and then back to a more controlled diet and I am seeing some really great losses being posted. Work out what works for you, give yourself some flex, and stick with what feels comfortable. Onwards and downwards my friend, you are doing really well.

Well done - 1 to 2 k’s a week. You are saving your life😀

Your friends are at least partly right. I am 55kg and could lose weight on 1500cal. As a heavier person you do have a higher basal energy requirement. Have you considered seeing a dietician for a professional opinion and some qualified advice?

Seems like you have done well on the plan and calories you have set. I don”t believe severe calorie restriction has too many negative effects if limited to 12 weeks or so and you check in with your doctor. Your BMI is over the moon and you need get back to earth asap. 1500 kcal is not severe. In an earlier diet some years ago, I programmed in 1800kcal and never lost a gram. Even with walking 3-6 kilometres per day and light weights. When I dialed it down to 1200 kcal it all worked. I sat on that program for six months and dropped 20 kilo. That was quite a few years ago. Since the lockdowns, I put huge amounts on. 2 weeks ago I went back to my diet but wanted to clear a fatty liver first and dialed in an 800 kcal diet - no problem at all and feel great - I have dropped from 121 kilo to 114 kilo and I will stay on 800 kcal for 2 more weeks and dial up to 1000 kcal for another month and add 100 kcal each successive month till I hit 76-77 kilo.

Maybe if you are a bit unsure you should speak to a Dr or a Dietician to make sure that your calorie deficit is a healthy amount for your personal situation.
In any case you know how you feel doing it so I'd listen to your body rather than your work colleagues.

I think my mates have given up. I haven't heard a thing the past few days. I see a diatition one a month. She's not concerned with my calories, just wants me to fill up on protein, so I eat eggs and fish everyday. My Dr is over the moon. Telling me I was pre diabetic really got my ass into gear.

Update: based on your body measurements, I do believe that your current calorie intake is okay, as long as you don't prolong it unnecessarily. You seem to be eating lots of protein which is good, and as long as you feel healthy and happy and energetic, I would continue. Of course I'm not your dietician but the doc seems happy with it, so good luck :)

Your calorie intake seem to be just right for weight loss. it may help if you can add 30 min brisk walk to your daily routine to start with and increase it to an hour. Also, it may be useful to check out about intermittent fasting. Goodluck and keep up the good work. A lot of people that give free advice including friends are mostly passing a comment, not thinking through. So, you should listen to your body and the experts.
