I too love figs!! When I get more than I can eat right away, I like to roast them. Several options for adding to them, and they love rosemary!😋😋😋

Pair them with Greek yogurt, honey, and some Maldon salt for a sweet and savory dessert.

Dry them. They are fantastic as portable snacks for the car on road trips or just to keep in your purse for "emergencies." I keep ziplock bags of dried fruit, nuts and toasted edamame when I know I won't be home for a couple of meals, and they save me from caloric restaurant remedies.

Están deliciosos con unas rodajitas de rulo de queso de cabra.

Oh my goodness! I just love them raw, but I know you have too many. I'm no help, because my grandmother used to make jam or preserve them whole and that's a lot of sugar.

I am sooooo impressed with all of these practical ideas!! And if I thought they would stand shipping I would send some to you. Neighbors are hiding from each other😂. We are trying to unload extra squash, tomatoes, etc. But one neighbor or did take a pound of figs today. You can’t just let figs sit around, and they are ripening every day. What do they taste like you ask? Someone help me answer that. To me they have a mildly sweet taste, with its own meat texture and soft chewy skin. They are very refreshing, and on top of that full of nutrition without breaking the calorie bank. I am going to work through all of your suggestions! So today, I made cough syrup by smushing a pound of figs and simmering them in a quart of water then straining the pulp in a nut bag. Once I had all liquid, I added the juice of two lemons and a bit of honey. It has a very nice flavor. The second cough product came from the leaves. I never thought of using the leaves, but they are medicinal. So I cut off two leaves and chopped them as you would for a tea bag. Then used a tablespoon to a cup of hot water, let seep and drank. Now that was very soothing, and I put the extra chopped leaves in the freezer. These are recipes from an old remedy book, Back to Eden by Jethro Kloss. Then I made a spread with the fig meat left in the nut bag. I food processed that to the consistency of chunky applesauce, stirred in maple syrup and cinnamon and a bit of lime juice. That made a really nice spread. Just experimented on that because I just could not throw out the fig meat left from making the syrup. The last thing will surprise you.it did me. I have a wart. So when you pick figs they sometimes ooze a white time milk. The instruction said to apply this to the wart to disappear it. So why not. My dermatologist already was not interested in it. So I collected this milk while picking and kept it separe

Continuing- and put a lid on the container. I applied the milk to the wart and it is sort of unnerving me. The milk is very sticky and already the wart is flatter and smaller. I will put more on tomorrow. Weren’t figs used in ancient times for healing? So now tomorrow to start working down you list. I did seal and freeze the ones I was too tired to work with. We’ll see how that turns out. As I was doing this today, I thought to myself that it is so relaxing and enjoyable to be in my lab (kitchen) that I would not mind it as a job. 😂😂 Now I’ll take another post to show the cough preparation. Stay posted!!! Are we having fun yet? Thank you again for the awesome contributions!!! You’re golden!

I’m curious about what area you live in? I did find this interesting article about shipping and thought the egg carton technique was clever: https://www.google.com/amp/s/howtoship.com/ship-fresh-figs/amp/

MisChelle- the instructions were to choose the figs, simmer in water for 5 minutes, push pulp through a cheesecloth (I used a nut bag) into a container. That left a clear juice. Added the juice of 2 lemons, added honey ( about 2T) and jared. It is really a simple recipe.

Hiking_fanatic, thanks for that link. I am here in the US. The packing instructions sound like a process for sure, but well worth it if the figs survive!
