I know what you mean about how writing things out can help. I also agree that the beach can be great motivation. Just keep it up, let the annoying little tom do her thing and hopefully she leaves quickly! So I've had a similar problem that you're running into with your workouts (well, but for different reasons). I love my runs, but I totally skip out on cross training. Mine isn't so much a time issue but an, "I hate going to the gym and figuring out parking and lockers because I get annoyed easily" issue. So while yours is a much more valid reason, it still results in the same thing. I was talking to my runner friend about cross training, because I've realized it was fine for my half training to just run, but it's going to be essential to run the full marathon. He gave me a few simple exercises that I can do with free weights in my apartment (and my apartment is tiny!) He said try things like doing calf raises while holding free weights in each hand, lunges with weights in each hand, and then showed me a few simple ways to lift with free weights to focus on my arm. I also googled cardio exercises that you can do in home, and was surprised how much I found! My roommate also does something he calls his "half workout" or a "mini workout" and will literally just do a few simple exercises in our apartment for 10 minutes. I think having the mentality that "I only have to do this for 10 minutes" makes it easier to fit it! And it's still something!
