Other than medication, weight loss and moderate exercise is the best approach to managing RA. I agree with allanpendlebury, exercise can definitely decrease pain. Certainly it can improve flexibility for RA sufferers.

Mug and Allen the first words out of my Doctor’s mouth was to exercise. So I completely can agree. I started steroids and spent the day outside doing low impact walking and some chores. I did this in spite of my complete exhausted feeling. My pain is there but mentally, I feel better that I pushed myself a little.
Thanks to you both so much for sharing your experience, it means a lot!

Motion is the best lotion is what my doctors keep telling me so I am passing it on to you. Crystal posted some great exercises a while back you may be interested in so I will share them with you. They are helping me so it’s definitely worth a try and we are here to get you through the rest.

If it's any consolation.. a month ago I was having trouble taking any steps at all. I started walking and in very small increments, 3 weeks ago I couldn't do past 4 min on the treadmill but very quickly was able to work up to 5 and then 10.. then 12.. 15 now I can do 20 with no issue at all and can push thru to 40. I also have a slu of medical stuff going on a few that are chronic. Just pace yourself and be gentle with you. I'm rooting for you! Oh and if you can get the pool going I know that'll help. 🙏💕

Sly I’m sure you are right on that
I’ve been so unwell and I have been completely sedentary so I’m getting my mind straight to commit to keep moving

Sedentary I did have to get orthotic insoles and walking shoes, they definitely have helped! Initially, I was told I’m developing plantar fasciitis. Thanks for sharing your story and I will look for those recipes!
I definitely need to address my weight issue. In the past six years, I’ve had three shoulder surgeries including a total replacement, cancer surgery and a lot of chemo and then tried to deal with these RA symptoms not knowing what it was, so I’ve been sitting on my steroid filled body and eating on top of that in order to stomach all of the meds I have to take
I’m fat and frustrated….

I love that you’re focused on the future and what that means for you. I hope you don’t get too down about the gain as being happy 😊 is first. You motivate me to go out and do what I need to do even though sometimes it’s difficult. Thank you!!!!
